Re: 787 troubles, the latest news..

By the way: I have downloaded a B787 flight manual including system description, basic procedures and performance data (fuel burn). Also included were a QRH and Flight Crew Training Manual. Quite interesting such stuff leaks out of Boeing. Did it include a section on "Lessons Learnt"? No,...

Thank's Good that a French left its wrench where he shouldn't have. If not, the design fault in the panel's protection and software would have not been found until an ANA staff left hes wrench and the 787's electricl system caoght fire in a real revenew flight full of passengers in the middle of th...

Re: 787 troubles, the latest news..

Any news on this machine? Boeing are reported to be working on a 787 automated 6 month delay announcement process. The delay annoucement wording is produced in various countries: Europe constructs the verbs,Asia the subject, and India the adjectives, each word is then flown to the US in a specially ...

Re: Further proof of puppy mill tomfoolery.. no rudder skills

Teach the pilots not to use the rudder in cruise. They don't need it anyways. YawDamper does the job and natural stability in yaw axis is quite good, especially for large sideslip angles.

Re: Air India Express 737-800 crash in Mangalore (india)

Looking at the accidents in the last couple of month, pilots seem to consider it more appropriate to crash entirely working aircraft and not wait for any system break-downs or unacceptable weather conditions. This is the 5th B737NG write-off due to accidents (I exclude the Air China B737NG) and all ...

Re: Plane crash in South India

> fucked up Autobrake function and didn't realize it soon enough (see: Sao Paulo) Sao Paulo was not an Autobrake issue. Sure, the autobrake did not engage, but the pilots applied full manual braking very early in the sequece. The reasons for the TAM to overshoot were: - The spoilers did not deploy,...

Re: Afriqiyah A330-200 down in Tripolis

At the end of a long flight the fuel is mostly stored in the mid and outer wing sections. The wing tank is inside the wing box, a structurally very tough element. Maybe the outer wings (outside the engine) separated early on the impact in one piece. Post-crash fires and explosions are most often see...

Re: Plane crash in South India

reports of burst tire and attempted g/a, a contradiction it seems as after wow the spoilers deploy and you are committed to land What do you reckon will happen to those spoilers, should T/O power be applied? They retract if not set manually - I would think. A go-around after spoiler deployment woul...

Re: Another Near A380 Disaster

If it was a "minor glitch", why did they have to turn back? That doesn't sound too minor. Maybe their white flag was missing? Seriously: Could they have forgotten to activate/energize the ADIRU's properly? No, without ADIRUs an Airbus can't fly (neither a Boeing, except perfect VFR & ...

Re: 747-8 to fly before 787?

I think the A400M is going up pretty soon. Does anyone know what kind of IFE it will have? Will it have a new livery? It will have the new all-grey Airbus livery with watermarks resembling the "8". That works better with our new Chinese masters. As for IFE: it has a switch to directly swi...

Travelling in Congo: I would pick any airline over the alternatives, which are road-based transport on the few roads, otherwise on rivers or tracks. Good chance to catch a nice tropical illness or get shot by local militia. At least dying in an aircraft accident is quick and heroic, if white asses d...

All the major subcomponent build and integration (wing, fuselage sections, etc.) would continue where they are. Which is not Washington State. But somewhere. Boeing needs two assembly lines for the 787 regardless. They have finally come to grips with the fact that a single line is never going to su...

Whatever, the article is crap and we need not to take it serious. I posted the article, not based on the merits of the source, or to foster a discussion of if, or where, steel is used in modern aircraft, but because it's suggests that China would like to become a competitor in the global airliner m...
