Re: Power loss in Engine #1

On a slightly more serious note, did anyone else notice the engine seemed to be running even after the plane came to a stop? And the plane was clearly controllable so I wonder what the mechanical issue actually was. Maybe something like loss of oil pressure and the guy got it down before the engine ...

Actually I think in most cases that kind of power loss in an engine would result in a #2.

Take note of the part at 8:58 where when discussing the crew's successful efforts to save the aircraft, they mention how they pulled the circuit breakers for some of the flight controls...

Re: Printed titanium crackerboxes

I think there are also some "3D metal printing" processes out there where the item is not printed directly. Instead it's printed with a low-melting-point material like wax, that material is used to make a mold, then molten metal is poured into the mold to make the final product.

Re: The regulation of _____________.

And there is part of me that understands that 'the government' is probably the worst entity to enact such regulations. I can think of two that are worse: corporate CEOs/boards, and corporate shareholders. Basically anyone with a profit motive. Having said that, I do think regulation of airlines' re...

We get Trump and the Dutch get this guy: http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/18/europe/netherlands-king-willem-alexander-klm-pilot/index.html

Is there some obscure clause somewhere in international law that might allow us to switch leaders?

Re: Informe de vuelo con fotografías de jetes, Tres DeMayo, 2017

That's good!

Because it's apparently been determined that we can fix all our country's problems by shipping everyone here on an H-1B visa back where they came from. That of course is not to be confused with the H-2B visa which is what all the workers at Mar-a-Lago have.

I'm sorry, but based on what I've read in internet forums, both of the above cannot possibly be true. The 733 is old and therefore unsafe and if you fly on one you're sure to die.

Re: United Airlines

Yeah, I think there may need to be some context to that analysis and the context may be difficult to come by. Hawaii is hot... cargo holds can be hot... many animals don't tolerate heat well... put that all in a pot and stir and you end up with a lot of harmed animals. I think the key in that case w...

Re: United Airlines

Has anyone even taken notice that although United clearly deserves a flogging in this situation, the actual individuals who dragged the passenger off the plane were employees of the Chicago police department?

I find it odd that seemingly nobody is paying attention to that detail.
