Re: Okay, which one of you posted this?

And... did you notice where most of the participants in the video were standi...

A good use for AI?

Livestream from EGLL, probably best when it's daytime there.
The intarwebz seem to think the camera is AI-controlled. That, or there's an incredibly patient and accurate human operator.

Re: Great idea!
It's actually doubly useful as when the plane is hydroplaning, heating of the brakes is greatly reduced. That's the brake cooling FlyBoyie has been asking for

For what it's worth, i found another group of people that don't seem too enamored with the braking ability of a train: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUKPn73I5hk

Several of them actually but here's the thing: they remained attached to the aircraft. An engine cowling?
Okay fine... I don't know that for sure, but I'm speculating based on the date the craft was manufactured.

Re: The Eidelwiess affair…
Let's see if I can confuse things some more by throwing my $0.02 in... I think the motions of the plane seem dramatic not because of the amount of pitch change, but the rate. Initially the takeoff seems to go great... the plane accelerates down the runway, then rotates smoothly to what seems to be a...

Re: New video.
The displaced cowling seems to “relax” but then the other side lets loose, and both tear off as the plane slows. ...but the pilots were momentarily relieved when the "detached engine cowling asymmetry" lamp went out. Alternate explanation: CFM (do they still make the engines for...

Re: The Eidelwiess affair…
Poor pilot was probably coming from another type that had the ability to climb, and forgot that A340s don't do that.

Re: "Negative, Southwest, the pattern is full"
Tower really feared for their own lives, the plane was headed straight to the tower at about tower altitude. Yes, but who had the right of way? It reminds me of an old saying in boating, regarding right-of-way: "He was right, dead right, as he sped along, but he's just as dead as if he'd...
