Who the hell is a TV programming director here, that would schedule stuff for our entertainment.
Runaway train (the one with Captain Kirk and the durnk inverted MD-80 pilot) is on TV tonight.
Basically a true story (but with mucho TV embellishment and inaccuracies).
There is a lot of braking.

Re: What a story
To be honest, it is a nice story but I felt it was a tad "scripted" for amazement, like when movies that tell a real story but have to make it more dramatic so it's not boring….I also fail to find a good "so what" to take away…The closest one is that the guy recommends that we f...

Media reports speculation that dirty fuel was involved. They should wait for the final report.

Re: THERE HAS BEEN A NEAR TOTAL SHIP-BRIDGE DISASTER!!!!!!
This may not be 100% accurate, but the ship was apparently able to communicate its emergency and gave law enforcement 90 seconds to block the bridge, and no traffic went down, except for a pothole repair crew of 8, 2 of which were rescued.

Re: THERE HAS BEEN A NEAR TOTAL SHIP-BRIDGE DISASTER!!!!!!
We, somewhat routinely run barges into bridges in flyover, and as J alluded to, it's often due to a power failure or a breakaway. I suppose our saving grace is that the barges are smaller. Maybe we need new procedures, regulations and oversight for more tugboat presence/assistance. I ASSUME the J's...

THERE HAS BEEN A NEAR TOTAL SHIP-BRIDGE DISASTER!!!!!!
Baltimore, MD 3/26/2024.
Per, you are on the spot as we will be doing outside analysis and liberal recommendations.
Gabriel, are you satisfied with the braking abilities of cargo ships?
I’m blaming a lack of redundancy in control systems.

Someone brought up that crazy drill-in in China.
Officially unsolved, but kinda looks like a pilot suicide to us, I think.

Re: This is kind of a double post
About a week ago, we had some lively thunderstorms with huge hail and tornado warnings. I continue to be amazed at the diversity of aeroplanie routes- some flights thread needles, some flights go hundreds of miles out of the way, some flights punch through cells.

Wrong! Duct tape and baling wire! Plus, for the doors/plugs, I’m thinking a good tie down ratchet strap or two are in order. Maybe a sheet of good 4 by 4 wire concrete reinforcement mesh? I guess the screwdriver might be useful to un-jam the go-forward switch on a pilot seat. And WTH?, you can’t fix...
