Re: Internet aviation speakist takes up the CB question

I have seen this chap before and I am not a fan of his delivery style. he strikes me as somewhat fisher price Well, apparently our wondorous forum has made him citation-worthy. And, Bobby says, "Don't fly into red returns". Who is davey?

I guess this should be acknowledged on the grand repository of jetpics tomfoolery. Some sort of ex military person...has pilot license, but I haven't figured out if he was ever paid to do so. Seems a bit black and white in his thinking- and has a few strange ideas- in particular that JP might have a...

Re: Sod Skegness - Savour Sidmouth

It seems that a fuel priming device failure resulted in the engine running too rich and consuming fuel too fast until it ran out. Insidious accident sequence there...and a great video of a nasty but perfect? landing. (Nasty = the crazy slow speed- was neat to watch). I suppose there's an Evanesque-...

Beautiful evening and sunny skies and light winds... Young 3BS spent some time here. I THINK this photo would be of the Flyover Not_International Airport. and I see no parallel taxiway between the runways. It was most cool in the Early 80's with them using both runways for multiple takeoffs and landings. Roughly every four hours there'd be one of thos...

Re: Boeing Deception: 777X Wing Actually Elongated 787 Wing

By now suffice to say that another proposed name for this device was "wingtip sail".
Why not right-angle-spill-over-blocking-dam-device or RASOBDD?
I will explain more later...

Re: Boeing Deception: 777X Wing Actually Elongated 787 Wing

OK, I buy the argument that increasing the aspect ratio can decrease the induced drag. But what about the tip vortices? If a wing is simply stretched but has the same form and lifting profile at the tip, it’s going to generate much the same vortices at the tip. I think I am beginning to understand ...

Re: Boeing Deception: 777X Wing Actually Elongated 787 Wing

I thought winglets- to some extent- "dammed up" air that would otherwise spill over the side of the wing and generate wasted energy in vortexes. That is actually a fairly correct description....Now, did you realize that all your and my description works the same if the wiglet is horizontal?... Yes,...

Sorry for the serious comment. Seriousness is not exclusive from humour. Even Evan has his moments. Based on past Boeing parlour observations they simply add them later and then bigger ones and multiple ones.

Hinged wings, surely something I'd like to see malfunction while airborne.
