And just for reference, here's a photo of one: [A jetphoto with much background clutter and windowframe clutter in the foreground, a human interest person with his head totally blocked, unsharpened, poorly lit, and etc ...but definitely a unique and special configuration, therefore acceptable... ] ...

Re: I am tired of hearing about unstabilized approaches...

No-flaps approaches have different reference speeds, different braking requirements, etc. If you haven't briefed this (which you won't have), unless there's some reason to the contrary, like a mess of cautions about hydraulics, you should go around and do the proper preparation. Like this: http://a...

Re: Iran: ATR 72-500 down

Iran Air has recently taken delivery of brand new ATR 72-600 aircraft. Flights with these aircraft are not suspended. ...because one hasn't crashed yet. Tune in next week when... Indeed. The pilots will have to receive type specific training on how to not_pull up relentlessly on a -600 since the -2...

Re: New AD Logo for 2018

There are some very excellent ideas. Seeing as there are so many, why not have separate logos for the different threads. Surely, we can include lifejacket man in one of them http://media3.s-nbcnews.com/j/MSNBC/Components/Photo/_new/090115-USAirway-hmed-535p.grid-6x2.jpg Nice new logo but you need t...

Re: B-52, It keeps going and going...

From a pure thrust perspective you could probably get away with two, although there are a number of reasons not to. (e.g. rudder authority Would you care to explain that? Do you mean making it a twin? Explanation: Ocelot said, "From a pure thrust standpoint" Context matters. In that context- (that,...

Re: Air France Relentless Pull Up: Beating the dead horse...again...

UAS procedure was climb thrust and 5 degrees nose up. They didn't touch the thrust levers and they went for 15 degrees nose up. Gabriel, just like I explained to your best friend over there (not that he was listening and not that you're going to), but that was NOT the procedure in this case. That m...

Ok, never mind.

He still may have THOUGHT it would give him a managed speed, but it’s still overall tough to accept the whole event...procedurally and fundamentally.

Air France Relentless Pull Up: Beating the dead horse...again...

Ok, I have only loosely been following the Evan admonition and Boeing Bobby declarations and Gabriel's and my own spam-waste-of-bytes there on the Russian-apparent-UAS crash. But (question) have a perceived a trend that for in a lot of cases of UAS, you establish full power and a healthy climb? (See...

Re: Scientific Engineers Botch Sinks, Lavatory doors.

This is a clickbait article about a non-issue. How many "extra seats" are really available from a slightly smaller lavatory? On the one hand, yes. On the other hand...the doors interfering with the galley AND the neighboring LAV...the sink causing hydraulic flow reversal... All of the modern scient...

Re: Iran: ATR 72-500 down

While we wait for initial reports- it’s seeming like ATRs are death traps (at least in relative terms). The nasty icing behavior seems to be a ‘flaw’. Is there more? The comment section at Av Herald said 22 fatal accidents from about 1500 ATRs build vs 6 fatal accidents from about 1250 Dash-8s. I b...

Monchie: Chaps, as a point of order, please don't link to Foxnews.com from this website. Thanks. Ooooo....Flame war material. I don't defend Fox as being bias-free...I do defend them as being an important alternative bias. Then we have the wondrous world of discussion fora to sort it all out.

We do appreciate it when you have something valuable to contribute, but we appreciate your usual admonitions and sarcasm even more.
Could a side stick have intraginent resistance to relentless pull ups?

Or perhaps transtranginent resistance to address input divergence?

Thank you for that insight. (AND the cool acronyms!)
If it lands upright (and with the gear extended, hopefully), it senses WOW. If it lands upside down... does it sense MOM?
That’s only type specific for purple airliners.

Just to be argumentative- I see NO reason to go around... I just want to understand THIS procedure: "Should we stop monitoring airspeed" "Yes". you aren't going around when you detect something is wrong the flaps then? so that you can in particular ensure you are monitoring your speed against the a...

One wonders what might have happened if the airspeed disagreement warning (assuming it's on a video screen or something and thus changeable) had "CHK PITOT HEAT" appended to it. Concur.
