Incident of the day (AA)

One very important and helpful trait of a good Captain is discretion . There are things you just don't say in a public forum, regardless of what legal backing (or lack thereof) you have. I suppose, if one is within weeks of retirement, perhaps that's not as much of an issue, but I'd like to think o...

Re: New Low in Journalism

The comments below the article are interesting too! The wording of one suggests that he actually took off past the crash and didn't see it. Also, there was much discussion of who monitors the emergency frequency. It was my parlour ass-hat assumption that fancy airliner radios had automatic HAL syste...

Re: New Low in Journalism

Further research on http://www.internet.com finds somewhat more traditional reporting with a few more facts. http://www.gainesville.com/news/20170417/pilots-overlooked-crashed-plane-at-williston-airport 1) STILL, I must flame Yahoo and People Magazine for putting up such fact-starved crap. 2) The ca...

New Low in Journalism

https://www.usatoday.com/videos/news/2017/04/20/georgia-family-dies-plane-crash-went-undiscovered-21-hours/100717932/ One set of verbiage says, 'undiscovered'...another says 'unreported'. There's a video with subtitles and lots of human-interest quotes. So many gaping holes in the story: Was it 'und...

I'm popping enough popcorn to make BoboBaby 's entire fleet overweight . I pledge that I will not assault, threaten, interfere, intimidate, or refuse safety orders of you or Not_Mom. However, I hope that you will not zip-tie me and haul me away from my computer if I ask when the popcorn will be rea...

Apple pie was brought to the colonies by the British, Dutch, and Swedes during the 17th and 18th centuries.  My whole life is a lie! As american as greasy fast food, then? America also invented Pizza and French Fries, Chinese fo...

Re: United Airlines

In the realm of humour. I have seen various postings of the Airplane! (and Zero Hour!) scene where they have to slap the hysterical passengers (and worse in Airplane) which were labeled as "UA Training Film", and Rex Kramer coming into the airport and using 'Kung Fu' on religious zealots w...

United Airlines

Discussion? I will repeat the comment that: Albeit newsworthy- it's just another day in the life of US aviation...and I tend to pile on with Tee Vee when he rants. I am sure the reason he will not represent the passenger is also due to the reason Flyboy or Dummy have never flown me anywhere...supply...

Nair: Oh the ironing!

The following is true: I'm getting a little old...and hair grows out of my ears. I've been trying Nair, and found it marginally effective (I'm needing 2 and 3 sequential applications of the stuff). I've mostly been using the facial stuff- and am wondering if the other stuff might not be more 'indust...

Re: 737, It just keeps going and going.

I guess that short little fire-plug looking one is obsolete...half the engines of a 707...half the fuselage length...

Of course, I guess we could say the same about the DC-9-15.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Safety Statistics of Hobby Flying

This is Mr Ford's fourth aviation incident. In the first he severely damaged a helicopter during autorotation practice. In the second, he dinged up a wing during a landing in bad weather. The third is [ the golf course crash. The fourth is the wrong-runway landing ]. Once is bad luck. Twice is a co...

737 Right Main Shimmy Damper Thread

Based on this: http://airdisaster.info/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7339 , I say (below) Check out the youtube link above at the appropriate time stamp.
