Re: An-148 down

Thank you for that insight. (AND the cool acronyms!)
If it lands upright (and with the gear extended, hopefully), it senses WOW. If it lands upside down... does it sense MOM?
That’s only type specific for purple airliners.

Re: I am tired of hearing about unstabilized approaches...

Just to be argumentative- I see NO reason to go around... I just want to understand THIS procedure: "Should we stop monitoring airspeed" "Yes". you aren't going around when you detect something is wrong the flaps then? so that you can in particular ensure you are monitoring your speed against the a...

Re: An-148 down

On the airliners I have flown it IS automatic.
Thank you for that insight. (AND the cool acronyms!)

I guess we still have to ask how that relates to those wonderful Советского airliners that we romanticize about.

Re: An-148 down

One wonders what might have happened if the airspeed disagreement warning (assuming it's on a video screen or something and thus changeable) had "CHK PITOT HEAT" appended to it. Concur. Also, in the realm of 'outsider advice' why in the hell is there even an off switch? I guess it's a good idea on ...

Re: An-148 down

From Gabeee's post: a special situation developed at about 1300 meters...suggest that the development of a special situation in the flight I am wondering about the wording "special situation". It's probably just a 'lost in translation' thing... HOWEVER "Special situation" almost sounds like the com...

Shades of AF 447...........
(Sensor icing suspected)

Counter to AF, I read of a “dive”?!?!

I guess it could be an attempt to gain speed.

I like the -"should we go around?" -"no" moment. Just to be argumentative- I see NO reason to go around... I just want to understand THIS procedure: "Should we stop monitoring airspeed" "Yes". That along with the basic fundamental of Aviate, Navigate, Communicate. Of course, that has no relevance t...

OK. I'll pretend you're serious.... ;) Your scenario blah blah blah... I'm aware that my scenario may be flawed...even grossly flawed... But, what I do not_see is YOUR explanation... You want them to fly dead in the "downwash", if I read you right, and then pick at my crazy ass theory. OK, to pick,...

Re: And in other news from the world of flying...

ocelotieee: Flying in the wake turbulence of the next goose up reduces fuel burn. Rabieeee: Indeed, but why not a straight line? (and trust goose#1 to do the navigation) The offset means that one wing is still encountering undisturbed air. You'd think a slight vertical stagger would be better. Rabb...

Yes but since they don't have rudders, not *that* much of a danger.

Re: Flight Report

Any flap deployment -hopefully less than 30 degrees- yet? Yes. Fortunately, Flyover does not_have 727 service from crazy short LATAM airports. The more normal, lower takeoff deployment was used on the WN 737-700 from RDU. Yes, I DID check. Thanks to a type specific checklist, the cowboy monkey pilo...
