Re: Crash at Quebec Airport
In the news vids one can see one of the separated engines, very near the small crash site, and notice that the prop has an extremely fine pitch and only one blade of the 3 is considerably damaged. One witness said he heard one loud explosion (sounded like lightning) and then later a 2nd explosion. I...

Re: Eurostar suspends services for third day
The cause of the failures has been traced to small very particles of "dry" snow being injested into the traction motor cooling fans resulting in electrical short circuits when moisture developed on the warm motors. The normal air filters were not effective against this type of snow. While...

Re: Is raising the minimum rage a good idea?
I find it very disconcerting, that before Sept 2008, the big US military complex didn't seem to have advised Bush2, at all, about the upcoming world economic collapse !??????

I suspect they had a fuel line partial break considering the reported sputtering engine and quick and massive post crash fire.

Re: Airbus crash into Mediterranean
From the data from the preliminary report here is a compilation of AOA, Longitudinal Gx force, and Normal Gy force (plane's reference coordinates). It starts at the stall warning and ends with the last FDR data recording, which lasts 60 secs. I found interesting the final Normal G load near and foun...

Zunzun.com has no advertisements, no fees and no requests for donations. The curve fitting source code is free for download. There is no 'they' at zunzun.com, just me. The name of the site is from my wife's Burmese nickname, ZunZun. James Oh god, free !?, the US is becoming socialist already.. ;) .

Re: Airbus crash into Mediterranean
From processing the flight data in the prel report and from pages 34 and 35 I get:
at 2000 ft (when the flaps are selected to pos 0):
IAS 165
Pitch -47
AOA: 0 deg
at 389 ft:
IAS 263
Pitch: -24
AOA: 11 degs (I wonder if it reached alph-prot)
Also there's at least 2 data errors in the report.

To keep Ed busy.If you were capable of finding it yourself, why did you ask?
Didn't expect to find it myself. Might have taken a long time for others to reply. Also, now we have several progs and an excellent curve fitting web site.

Re: Airbus crash into Mediterranean
From the preliminary report. I plotted the vertical trajectory of the last 41 secs of the flight and found that in the last 30 secs the vertical acceleration (relative to ground) was -0.43 G* or that the experienced vertical G* level was 0.57 G*. * : Relative to the earth. Horizontal accelerations n...
