Re: 747 engulfed in fire during take-off

Nice!
(but bruh, the sheer blind confidence you have to have in the autopilot to let it fly you into the clouds while heading straight into a mountain!!!)

747 engulfed in fire during take-off

Remember kids, if your car's engine backfires, your car is on fire. According to the press anyway. BB would be laughing about this dreadful 3-engines take-off. https://www.infobae.com/america/mundo/2024/05/18/temor-en-el-aire-un-avion-se-incendio-y-realizo-un-aterrizaje-de-emergencia-cuando-partia-d...

Re: F.A.O.: 3WE

I never did that. And probably I would not do it because I am too coward for that. I did show up for work when my union (or the union that represented my job, because I had left the union) went on strike, but there was no picket. The one time there was an actual picket where I worked (in a strike by...

Is it me, or do ships break a lot?
/Not brake, as ships have no PSI for such things.
Right, they don't brake a lot but they do break a lot (of bridges).

Re: We just made deplaning more efficient

And that is the kind of issues that I have with unions...
I absolutely support the concept of collective bargain and unions, the right to strike, etc, etc, etc...
The problem is not the concept, it's the implementation. The CORRUPT implementation.

Re: Idiomas de lingues

Did you apply PSI to the brakes?
Yes, on a daily basis.
If so, how many? Thanks in advance.
I don't know but never all of them, and your question is not applicable because this vehicle type was not equipped with antiskid or autobrakes.

However, lots of guarded switches and slight hyperbole on Evans’s view of pilots.

Good. In another news, the price of popcorn, tofu, and beef is expected to go up. Sodas too. Coca-Cola is already looking for a replacement for HFCS.

Re: TeeieVeeie...

(I think Evanie's avatar shows the view from a passenger, Not_cockpit, window... but, above all, I would find hard to believe the Dash 8 Not_being in his no-fly list...).
Exactly what I thought:
1) Who told you it was taken from the cockpit?
2) Who told you it was taken by Evan?

Re: Ethanol Aeroplanies

1. WSJ article on a bacteria that turns CO2 into ethanol. Sorely missing from the article is information on what actually “powers” the bacteria . I have my doubts given that it glosses over that one detail.

Re: Pontificating on hard landings...

I think the "by the book" answer for airliners is very simple: if you bounce, you go around. Period. I have never seen a book that said such a thing. Normally the recommendation is in a small bounce don't lower the nose, hold the pitch. In a big bounce or long float following a bounce go ...

It can actually take off and land on its single wheeled landing gear too. Probably no antiskid though.
