Re: OSL on Track to Double in Size

Wait, they double the airport size to increase theoretical capacity by a whopping 21.8%? Per, is TRF really convenient to fly overseas? With the exception of KLM, none of the alliances go there, so you would have to travel on separate ticktets, and that is a nono for me because you're on your own if...

Where do they do maintenance on these birds? I was not aware they had contract maintenance centers.

Re: Delta Retires Last DC-9 (NWA / Republic / North Central)

If they are still taking delivery of 717s, where are they coming from? The last new one was delivered in April of 2006?

Also, they still have plenty of MD-80/90, so those cramped cabins and noisy engines (if you're sitting next to them) will be with us for a while.

Re: Practicalities CPH airport and city

I'm an expert on CPH, but I only been outside the terminal for a smoke and an the occasional night at the airport hotel due flight cancellations, so no good advise from me. What I am curious about is, why Møn, and why at that time of the year. I thought it was best avoided? Per Well, parents in law...

Practicalities CPH airport and city

Will be flying into CPH around Easter and driving to the island of Moen. Can do a late arrival on Thursday before Easter. Stay at airport hotel or downtown? I guess this depends on whether there is anything to do in Copenhagen on Godfriday. Will at least museums be open? If hotel downtown, use publi...

JAL buys A350

http://ajw.asahi.com/article/economy/AJ201310070059 Now why do they say the 777X isn't commited yet, and JAL/ANA would have been Boeing launch customers again if they had ordered the plane? Didn't Lufthansa just order the 777X a couple of weeks ago, thereyby forcing Boeing to commit and becoming lau...

Re: Boeing tour and Future of flight museum worth a visit?

Thanks. Didn't have the Museum of Flight on my radar, will read up. If I do all that, there won't be much time left to visit anything else. I was going to walk across downtown and see a little bit of the coast. Anything special you would recommend?

Any comments on Vancouver?

Re: Boeing tour and Future of flight museum worth a visit?

Well, I was hoping for some good whether in July, outside of the Olympic peninsula.

I always carry a small travel umbrella. I used it so much on a trip to Tokyo outside of the rainy season that it broke on the last day of may stay.

Boeing tour and Future of flight museum worth a visit?

Due to the deplorable total lack of direct flights to Europe from Montana, and lack of decent connections to cities served by LH, I will probably drive to Seattle or Vancouver in July and leave from there. If I stay a day longer, I will have 1.5 days on my hands, maybe 2.5 if I can free up another d...

Re: 787 inflight structural breakup in 3....2....1....

NH203 arrived on time in FRA (ok, it took off about at the time ANA announced the grounding) and NH204 seems to heft left on time about two hours ago, at least according to Fraport info. It also shows as a 787. Flightaware has the flight as on schedule but fails to show position info. NH203/204 for ...

Re: If you see a wheel fall off the plane, you might want to

How about if you are well into taxi and there's no flaps/slats down? Or what if- among an bunch of pink or green stuff, you see a little slush? (Or no deicing fluid but a few snowflakes?). Rime ice forming on leading edges of airfoils & stuff? You are on the little runway instead of the big one...

seating areas

To add to Ed's rant, why do airlines even bother to print seating areas and call them out for boarding if they do not enforce them? I had this happen twice this week (United Express Embraer and USAirways CRJ) that I was in seating area 4 (frontmost), they called out children, disabled, military, eli...

Re: baggage drop off in BOS?

Well, on checkin in FRA, the LH lady couldn't find it in the system but was pretty shure it'd be open by 2 pm. So I killed some time and, due to the incompetence of AVIS and the traffic around the terminals being a major zoo, didn't arrive at the dropoff counter until shortly before 3. The lady said...

baggage drop off in BOS?

I'll have a meeting in Boston ending around noon, and am scheduled to leave on an evening flight on Lufthansa. I figured I'd try to check in and drop my bag either in the morning or at noon and then take the subway to downtown Boston. When I tried to do this before in the days before online checkin,...
