Guilty as charged, I got the report url from AH and assumed everyone else would have also, without probably even thinking about it.

It annoys me that Airbus has rushed to erase Bombardier's name from the project, especially since it only happened because of stupid government tricks.

There were a pair of regular electric speakers in your armrest, inside the holes where you connected the "pneumatic headphones". The plastic tubes just guided the sound from the speakers to your ears.Very much as if ...

Re: Interesting (recent) total air disasters

Let L-410 in Russia crashed shortly before landing . (3) it wasn't an uncommanded reverse at all but the pilots did it on purpose, presumably to try to clear the developing condition (in which case wtf? but it's certainly plausible); or (4) the pilots issued some other prop pitch command and the wr...

Re: Boeing Deception: 777X Wing Actually Elongated 787 Wing

You can't land a 747 at any appreciable roll angle anyway; the crosswind landing procedure is to land sideways and the gear's built to handle it. There's a thread about this here somewhere, unless it was on the old site...

Yes; the existing eight engines add up to less than two of those PW4077s.

Re: I am tired of hearing about unstabilized approaches...

No-flaps approaches have different reference speeds, different braking requirements, etc. If you haven't briefed this (which you won't have), unless there's some reason to the contrary, like a mess of cautions about hydraulics, you should go around and do the proper preparation. Like this: http://av...

Also it seems they ploughed in sideways, which is rather curious. Most of the scenarios I can think of that would lead to this involve an upset and tumble first (apparently not) or don't result in wings-almost-level. Well, you never know... The LET of the other thread lost control and did a 360 bar...

Re: B-52, It keeps going and going...

From a pure thrust perspective you could probably get away with two, although there are a number of reasons not to. (e.g. rudder authority) However, moving to four seems necessary to get most of the touted advantages. If nothing else, to get the efficiency improvements you want a high-bypass design ...

Re: Interesting (recent) total air disasters

Let L-410 in Russia crashed shortly before landing . So that one's interesting... according to today's update the event began 14 seconds before the command to enter reverse. And, given that the right-side propeller was going faster but the plane was yawing to the right, this suggests that the prop ...

Re: They didn't died, but the ATR did died. 12.2017

Today the CBC's reporting that the operator certificate's been pulled. A few days ago they were also saying that it took the pax 30 minutes to get the exit door open, which if true raises quite a few eyebrows. Also it seems they ploughed in sideways, which is rather curious. Most of the scenarios I ...
