Someone on the ground neglected to remove the pitot tube covers. The pilots had no idea of their true airspeed. The airplane stalled and plunged into the ocean. People died. I'm sorry.

Probably its retirement is more related to the fact that it was originally a test airplane, hence very early model, surely quite heavier than later models, and hence with useful load (since the max gross weight is the same) and hence with less range for a given payload, less payload for a given ran...

LN470, a 777-300, was delivered to Cathay on 26 Feb 2004. It has logged over 15k flight cycles and 40k flight hours of service. No word yet on whether the airplane will be repaired or scrapped.

Autohausaz has those parts for about $650 new. I buy new parts from them, as well as PelicanParts and THMotorsports. For things like brakes, shocks, and tune up parts, new is the only way to go. But for things that are not considered regular maintenance items - like the air pump and check valves - ...
