Re: F.A.O.: flyboy

As Bobby reminds me, I have never truly "done it" professionally, therefore I have one specific question... Is a plane that sat out all night in sub-freezing weather snow going to NORMALLY require a simple, but good sweeping of everything off? OR Will there LIKELY be snow that sticks to the wing an...

Reminds me of this guy who managed to shove 14 people on a PC-12.

Re: Pilatus crash, blizzard, SD

Flyboy has a point though. The maximum seating of the PC-12 in high-density config is 11 including the 2 seats in the front. Indeed, and, moreover, very few in the US are in that configuration. Most are either club or combi config. Looking at the family photo, the littlest boy might have possibly b...

An article at Flightaware says that the last MD-11 built has now been retired.
Meanwhile, FedEx is still flying the prototype.

Re: Pilatus crash, blizzard, SD

I'm assuming at least some of those kids were lap children, because there is no way you can shove 12 seats into a PC-12.

I believe that the adjectives are subjective PIREPs while the numbers are actual measurements by the airport.

Re: Question for Flyboy: thrust increase after take-off

Thank you. Wonder why the A320 doesn't follow the same "rule" then. Is it intrinsically less noisy than the 737-NG? I don't know that it's necessarily a 320 vs 737 "rule". It could be that our performance vendor does not calculate a flex temp high enough to where FLX falls below CLB, whereas WN's d...

Re: Question for Flyboy: thrust increase after take-off

You surprise me, Your Engineerly Amazingness! An engine that's at a lower thrust setting produces less what? Hint: said "what" is much less of a factor at higher altitudes (such acceleration height and up). I will tell you the situation you described does NOT happen on the 320, at least not that I'v...

Re: Neat writeup on looooooooooooooong flight

Question: didn't they have some pretty long (commercial) flights in the Connie/DC-7/377 days? Obviously they wouldn't cover the same distance, but I thought they had some pretty long durations.
Yes.

Would it have been any clearer had I said "I clearly know nothing about them"?
It would have been better had you stayed quiet about a subject in which you're not versed. It would also have been the first time that would have ever happened.

Re: Aviation Typists Update

Flyboy's twin brother Sam states that the 757 was a near perfect aeroplanie. It did seem to have a number of nice attributes, including room for big engines under the wing, and an ability to four one oh itself with general ease. I have to give Weigel credit, it took him a lot longer than I expected...

What do you all know about Sun Country airlines? I'm going on a charter flight with them soon and have no experience with them. My dad is going on a Veterans Honor flight and I am accompanying him.
