Re: F.A.O.: Flyboy

I just posted this: ...and who has said enough stupid things over the years displaying some big holes in their aviation knowledge over the years that I'm not really sure they actually fly an airplane... ...and I am haunted by the ole "pot-calling-the-kettle-black" and "three fingers ...

Re: United Airlines

A side note: if the tail # of the airplane in question is being reported correctly as N632RW, then I've flown it quite a few times.

Re: A Hugely Important Announcement

Ok, I got that. Thank you. But my question was more regarding how things work (typically), what a pilot can expect in terms of career growth, not what is legally admissible. For the first question, I guess that, typically, you will have a good bunch of MD-80 CA and 777 FO that will want this 777 CA...

Re: A Hugely Important Announcement

Wow, so may stripes!!! Congratulations for the achievement. To quick somehow related question. Is it correct that typically (often? sometimes? seldom?) FOs have the option to make progress in their careers by moving to captain in the same type or to FO in a higher type? If yes, I wonder what are th...

Actually, most of them are pretty attentive, but, as in everything else, there is always that percentage of dipshits. But yes, they've definitely prevented unpleasant stuff from happening before.

Re: Effort to Save Ike's Constellation

And once you've restored it, you have to maintain it! I remember seeing an interview with someone from a group that had restored a WWII bomber - I think it was the Commemorative Air Force and the B-17. The guy said that altogether it cost about $20,000 an hour to operate the aircraft... ouch! If he...

Quite an undertaking, a restoration like that. Consider that it took Lufthansa (with all their resources) three airplanes to build one.

Airbus is taking this issue seriously enough to where they issued both an OB as well as a new recommended reporting procedure to deal with fume events. They seem to primarily attribute this to APU oil which apparently under very certain circumstances can get into the bleed air system EVEN IF THE APU...
