Re: A340 troubles, the latest news...

You mean I need to look youtube videos or have 30 years of airliner repair experience to note that the nose of the plane is burnt? I was more curious what orifice you pulled the 30ft figure from. Why not 27? Why not 40? It was a generic ballpark number, it's accuracy was not central to the idea bei...

Re: A340 troubles, the latest news...

If the first 30 ft of the plane can be economically cut clean and replaced, then it can be saved. So it can't. Noted. Is that from two airline mechanic youtube videos or is it just your own opinion backed by decades of airliner repair experience? You mean I need to look youtube videos or have 30 ye...

Re: Lightning detection for turbulence/storm avoidance.

Seems as though there's some science to their feelings, which begs a simple question: Given ALL the advances in onboard data/etc, are airliners generally getting lightning data (automatically depicted on the weather radar or something?) Thank you for a question that is actually legitimate and inter...

Re: Another Another Important Announcement

I once rode in one of these French-composite-crackerboxes at over 55kts, so maybe taxi speeds are variable (just after a 737 left me in EZE, so completely aviation related!)
That will always be Dacia 1300 to me!

Just before boarding the Nok Air flight, I managed to resist the temptation to visit this lounge at HDY Specious lounge.jpg If spell-checker doesn't underline it, it must be the right word...... Just by DTW there is a restaurant called Beirut. It is legendary, I've been eating there for over...

Don't bother. Time to rename the site.
Why, is someone stopping you from using six paragraphs just to say "flying below Vmc is bad"?

Stop being such a whiny bitch lest you end up getting language lessons from someone who doesn't use caps. I am still curious as to your opinion of the 737-Max lavatory. If it really has the issues they say it has (in particular the sink directing the water stream back up and out onto users, AND app...

Re: No More Articles about the P210N

On a second thought... 1250 lb of useful load A cruise speed of 200 kts with a stall speed of 53 kts. A rate of climb of 2000 fpm A range of 2600 NM Is not a typical combination of characteristics for a certified airplane. Especially not one with an empty weight of 1600 lb and 200 HP. I kinda doubt...

Re: No More Articles about the P210N

It is a fun challenge. Many people build their own plane from kits (that are largely pre-built already). But very very few manage to build from scratch and fly a plane that them designed themselves. If you talk practical, no, it is not practical. Climbing the Everest is not practical either. Or doi...

That being said, he fed us outsiders with stories of going here and there in the 'ultimate single' . His stuff was generally more entertaining than Garrison's hell-more-technical Melmoth aeroengineering. With that I wholeheartedly concur . I still don't understand why Garrison ever bothered with th...

Done anything cool in the crackerbox recently? Gone-around from one of those art-requiring New Yark visuals? (or a botched squeeze play by ATC) Hand flown to minimums? Watched mental arithmetic take you from a remarkable slam-dunk approach to near the marker at the right speed and altitude? Worked ...

I may know more about photography than the JP screeners, but alas, I have no credentials. Credentials don't matter. Also, hypocrisy is perfectly acceptable as long as it's been elevated to one's "life philosophy". In related news, the most important thing about a doctor is his buttkissing skills.

If it's worth it, yes. I mean, if you are ok with that, of course, It's not worth it. Is that a fact or your opinion? May I have an opinion that doesn't match yours (or your fact), please? I will not tell you what you need to be concerned about, but pilots are more exposed than anybody else to this...
