Re: From Aviation Typists Part xxxx

We read part II of how Not_Karl's Uncle Dr. Dick ruthlessly kills a helpless, innocent goose AND in the process, apparently totals his newly-purchased Beechcraft T-tail-turbofan-doctor killer...[correction: goose killer]. :o  :? I kinda feel for the good Uncle Doctor. He turned the replaceme...

Re: Boeing Deception: 777X Wing Actually Elongated 787 Wing

A horizontal wiglet is more efficient than a vertical one.
A distinguished aviation typist by the name of Garrison or something argued that orientation of the winglet doesn't actually matter, so long as its there.

Of course, his degree is not in any kind of engineering...

Evanie said AvHearald said a long list of little things added up.

A little extra weight
A tailwind
Rotation too late due to incorrect v speed calculation
Slow rotation
Failure to switch on a backup hydraulic system
Thanks be to Krishna, Evanie clarified it for "us".

The alternator on the Melmoth did dieded due to vibration that wasn't felt.

That is all.

I like how neither DTW airport, nor Detroit Free Press seem to know if this was a mainline or a conx flight. And yet, some will still tell "us" to trust the media because Trump is bad.

Re: Ju-Air Junkers Ju-52 crash in Switzerland

Is maintaining and flying classics (and selling rides) reckless tomfoolery? The CRM and checklists are solely lacking on acronyms for electronic wizardry.
As you know, I'm not a big fan of "vintage aircraft operators", but I still think we should wait for the FINAL REPORT.

Oh, and phugoid.

It is an interesting idea, I first thought you were crazy but then you explained it and it made sense. I mean, I have no idea if you are correct or not. But I liked your reasoning which involved explaining why you thought that and not showing off credentials to "prove" that you are right (as if cre...

I think it's unlikely that Trump is gay, I think there is a significant possibility that Putin is a closet homosexual. This in itself is not an issue. The problem is that he leads probably the most actively homophobic first world society.
Since when is RF first-world?

Re: FAO Messi of Aeroengineering

4- The relatively good outcome of UAL was a great achievement given what the flight crew knew, but it was NOT thanks to the 30000 hours TT of experience of Captain Haynes. And it could (which doesn't mean would) have been done better had the pilots knew and trained how to manage phugoid, what they ...

Re: FAO Messi of Aeroengineering

Nobody can precisely replicate in the sim an engine damage and failure that ends up with the cowling flying away and hitting and severing a pax window with the pax partially flying away. So let's not practice engine failures and loss of pressurization. Because you know, not replicating EXACTLY the ...

Re: FAO Messi of Aeroengineering

I don't understand why, if 2 crews actually did it on the first attempt with different degrees of success (one including leaving the plane with no more damage than it had already received from the missile strike), some flyboys believe that it cannot be done better with proper training and practice....

Go directly to the phugging Miami FSDO.

So Gabe, you've got this tone that if the Sioux City guys had some sim time and just done 1, 2, 3, and 4 there'd have been no crash.
It's not just a tone, it's apparently a fact, he wrote a phugging thesis on it.

I didn't say it was a failure. I did say that had they managed the phugoid better the plane could have been landed with no fatalities. Sorry if you don;t like that, but that's more a fact than an opinion.

I am not buying your act that maybe the Domestic Super Aviation Encyclopedia of the Millennium does not give a flying phugoid about basic fundamental aircraft behavior. As to what I want you to do about it? I seem to recall two things about you: 1) You hand fly a fair bit. 2) You spent a significan...
