Re: 737, It just keeps going and going.

With more than 4,600 currently on order, Boeing says it will increase production of its 737 to an astonishing 52 per month in 2018, and as many as 57 per month in 2019. Of course to a certain participant there , any number > 0 is astonishing. Conspiracy theorists will be quick to note that th...

Re: Iran: ATR 72-500 down

The comment section at Av Herald said 22 fatal accidents from about 1500 ATRs build vs 6 fatal accidents from about 1250 Dash-8s. I blame the French. ....and the French probably blame the Italians Wikipedia says The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop, short-haul regional airliner developed and produ...

Re: An-148 down

Counter to AF, I read of a “dive”?!?!

I guess it could be an attempt to gain speed.
If the airspeed probe is blocked and reading close to zero it would certainly make more sense than pulling up relentlessly.....

Re: And in other news from the world of flying...

You want them to fly dead in the "downwash", if I read you right, and then pick at my crazy ass theory. I must admit that tip vortices had not crossed my mind, and I still suspect that their effect is negligible at this speed, Reynolds number and whatever else, but I haven't found an equation to pr...

Re: And in other news from the world of flying...

I always ASSumed, the trailing goose ROUGHLY centered over the upward spinning part of the wingtip vortex...free updraft lift...less flapping needed. OK. I'll pretend you're serious.... ;) Your scenario would require the vortex spiral diameter to be greater than half the wingspan of a goose (~ 1.5 ...

Re: And in other news from the world of flying...

Flying in the wake turbulence of the next goose up reduces fuel burn.
Indeed, but why not a straight line? (and trust goose#1 to do the navigation)
The offset means that one wing is still encountering undisturbed air.
You'd think a slight vertical stagger would be better.

OL-leiren bestilte 1500 egg gjennom å oversette via Google Translate. Men det slo feil. 15.000 ble levert på døra. Vi ønsker lykke til og håper at de norske gullhåpene er glade – veldig glade – i egg: :D

Re: And in other news from the world of flying...

Whilst human pilots are invariably witnessed heroically guiding their doomed aircraft away from potential victims on the ground, one Canada goose has heroically achieved the opposite. Revenge for Sullenberger's infamy?

Re: Good For Delta - Crackdown on Comfort Animals

Airlines get tough on 'support pets' .....United Airlines say requests have risen by 75% to 76,000 in a year...... .......From next month, Delta will also be stepping up efforts to "protect" its passengers, after an 84% increase in on-board animal "incidents"..... .......British Airways, meanwhile,...
