Re: Oh, the humidity!

Aborting takeoff was a pretty uncool thing to do. Real cool macho pilots continue not only the takeoff but they fly at least across the Atlantic before they do anything special about the compressor stall. Minor correction. Cool pilots do not fly Air Busses. I forgot, sorry. They fly RJ's of course.

It's a metaphor for the EURO.

Re: Don't let an engineer anywhere near your

Then there was the doctor who went for a walk on a lakeshore when he found the lifeless body of a young woman lying in the shallow water. He immediately knelt down beside the unconscious woman and started moving her arms rhythmitically in an effort to reanimate her. An engineer came along, stopped a...

Ever since General Motors went into bankrupcy and emerged again, all within a matter of 15 minutes, I'm not impressed with this kind of news any more.

American Airlines (AMR) has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
I have a feeling that airlines in the US do this from time to time to keep their employees humble and their demands for better wages low.

Re: To tell him or not to tell him the truth?

I have always admired how our daughters (all three of them in their time) have managed to accept the facts of life and at the same time carrying on believing for several years. Example: Although there are a lot of lamps in and around our house that work automatically all year round (time switches, l...

Re: P-51 down at Reno Air Races

a post somewhere suggested that the on-board telemetry showed 22g's.
If so, I'm sort of surprised the wings didn't come unstuck. Or maybe they did.
I saw pictures somewhere that clearly showed wrinkles in the fuselage.

I teach English as a foreign language at a public high school. I enjoy teaching but the inefficient school/education system annoys me to no end. Come to Germany. They have shortened school time from 13 to 12 years in order to push the quality of education. You should see how efficient our schools a...

Yet another wonderful aspect of aviation that got taken over by people with more money than sense. The results have been predictable.
