Re: BA 747 tries to kill passengers

A maintenance question:

Are these slides "one use only" or do they deflate them, check for holes etc and repack them for use again?

Re: Bad news for ITS

Those of you that have been in close quarters with our friend Hippopotamus amphibius will know what an awe-inspiring beast this is. Incredibly ill-tempered, smelly and astonishingly noisy, this lugubrious and cumbersome bastard is a wonderful creature.

Anybody know what the problem was?
Poor livery, he went out and corrected that awful shade of blue to something more pleasing.

Re: DC Metro Crash

As I understand it, when the trains are in automated mode (which is normal for 6-car trains during rush hour) the driver's only manual action is to open and close the doors. I am no expert, though, so take that for what it's worth. The 8-car trains cannot use automated mode because they won't stop ...

Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) is a key ingredient in Absinthe. I like to use Absinthe in a variation of the Old Fashioned, but using Tanqueray Rangpur gin, Angostura Orange bitters, simple syrup and mint as an alternative to the traditional using Bourbon and oranges.

Re: Air France jet missing

Given that the tail would appear to have been found some distance from the rest of the wreckage - how does this finding tally up with the statement that the plane "did not break up or become destroyed in flight" ?

Don't hold your breath. It will happen though. They simply won't let the brand value die. It's hubris and noise.

Re: EK407 A340-500 @ MEL Runway Scrape on takeoff

Well after being stranded in MEL for nearly three months A6-ERG A340-541 has departed MEL from rwy 34 @ 11.32 as EK7608 stopping PER, DXB and TLS unpressurised. Strangely, I read a small news item in the latest (July 2009) issue of German aviation magazine "Aero international" that the plane had be...

Re: Will Ferrari leave or not?

Nonsense. Bernie won't allow a devaluation of the F1 brand. There'll be an 11th hr (11:59) probably agreement and they'll all come out smelling of roses. Nothing to see here, just big boys showing each other their brightly painted penises. They want Mosley's head. And the old man doesn't want to .....

Halfie nailed it; but you missed out a key part - I felt stupid not being able to answer a question someone asked me,
which engaged me further in the desire for an answer. That's it :)

Off Topic: The Who's classic "Who's Next" album is extremely good. The impact was immense - a combination of The Who's peaking (musically) and advances in recording techniques and technology (and the relatively recent acceptance of synthesizers into mainstream rock music) resulted in a "perfect stor...

Re: Venting question

Fine. I'm happy to go public. I saw something which I was baffled by, and tried to research it without a really convincing result. What baffled me was the sooting around the exhaust. In retrospect, I should have realised that the APU was some kind of motor engine, and the exhaust gases would produc...

Try searching from some others listed here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_search_engines To search and fish about ourselves is to use the internet poorly. Better is to ask other more interested, focussed parties for their findings. A community with a mutual interest should share resources re...
