and since you are replying.... why did you say that A380 "thought wrong" ?
Why not? I highly doubt you were all that concerned about him, Giles.

It's reassuring to know that the space between your ears is capable of harbouring a thought. Even if it's only thinking it's a thought. Far more reassuring is to know that the space between your ears is capable of comprehending a thought. Even if it's only thinking it's comprehending it. Way to go,...

But if an average African's productivity is only a fraction of others ... does this point to the old stereotype that the average African was "slow, lazy and unmotivated" ... ? Re: Air France to buy Alitalia ?

Hmm, in Germany whenever unions started to be entrepreneurs themselves, it always ended in a disaster: Neue Heimat, AHRB bank, etc. But maybe the Italian unions are better business men ...
Not likely. Better singers, but not better businessmen.

It's not a question that can be dealt with in one-line answers.
Perhaps. But neither is a paragraph-long answer correct just by virtue of being a paragraph long.

I've fixed my bumper with a 10 pound sledge hammer on more than one occasion. How are you supposed to do that with plastic?
One revolutionary approach might be not to f*** up your bumper. Just a thought.

I haven't had much success finding out what one actually does in CAP besides go out and look for missing airplanes now and then.
Wear a flightsuit, walk around with a self-impressed factor that would make me blush, which is saying something.

Re: Cessna 182...a SLICK airplane?

Big fat flat surface area creates drag, not streamlined by any means... http://www.btinternet.com/~lee_mail/P47-2.jpg Put that in comparison with the P51, liquid cooled, so less surface area meeting airflow, streamlined, thus less drag. http://www.btinternet.com/~lee_mail/P51-4.jpg Thank you, Multi...

Re: Cessna 182...a SLICK airplane?

So the question is, why would liquid cooling be cleaner from an aerodynamic point of view? (I can only guess that maybe the heat exchange is much more efficient so much less air has to go through).
That's a pretty good guess, Gabriel. Think P-51 vs P-47.

Re: Beware tail-mounted twin airliners!!!!!!!!

Well, whatever the reason, tail-mounted airliners are now 2 for 2 for maintenance groundings that rank news coverage (With SWA not counting since the issue was that they didn't ground planes initially). You know, you remind me of a Dilbert strip I once saw where the Boss says "I know I'm ...

Re: Delta-Northwest merger

It's a game we can all play. How about American Airlines, for example, which might be a reasonable fit ? Following likely release of Northwest's golden share in Continental, the latter is now free to bid for someone else and is tipped to go for United. American is the only big guy left at the party...

Water vapor condenses on cold surfaces. Depending on conditions and atmosphere pressure, it can become liquid water or ice.

I don't think letting AIDS 'take its course' can possibly benefit African countries (on the Malthusian principle Flyboy suggests)
Can't we at least give it a shot? Gave everything else a shot, Heaven knows.

I found it lamentable when you suddenly left this virgin forum and I declared so publically (Rush to dig it up before the next server crash).
FWIW, my resignation from the AP Q&A stands. I have faith that el, ZA and Don Moore (none of them airline pilots) have it under control.

I will probably be off topic, but need to ask all the people here this important question (I know a lot of experts are present): Is it safer in those (African) countries to fly in an relatively old and questionably mantained aircraft or to make the trip in an old an questionably mantained land vehi...

Some how fuel didn't reach the burner nozzles.
Let's see you reach them nozzles when you ain't even in the tanks. Yeah-yeah, I know the "indications were this and such", too bad I don't give a flying f*** what the indications were, the result speaks waaay too loudly.
