Re: UPS A300 crash Birmingham AL
Parlour talk moment... Was this crash pre-dawn? I'm thinking of the black hole effect which unfortunately seems to happen from time to time. You have only runway lights in a sea of blackness (didn't see approach lights depicted on the approach plates, AND we have the photographs of the barren field...

Old news, unrelated to Sicko's post.It seems it wasn't a galley fire......I'm going to bet this fire was in the aft galley and didn't involve Li batteries.

Agua Verde is a waterfront cafe with a rental place downstairs. I haven't actually been there since it used to be all the way across the lake from me, but I've heard good things. http://aguaverde.com/ Moss Bay is a good one and afterwards you can stroll around and look at all of the multimillion dol...

It's not the hours, it's the landings. If I were the crude macho type I would guess that we're looking at a three-holer with considerable flying hours.
But I'm not, so I won't.
As for the engine......

What It Takes to Fly the 787 at the Paris Air Show LE BOURGET, France — The Boeing 787 Dreamliner isn’t like the highly maneuverable, super-sleek planes demonstrating their skills at this week’s Paris Air Show. It’s big. It’s heavy. And it’s a passenger jet, after all. But that hasn’t stopped Boein...

This is starting to become routine for the 787 donkey: A United Airlines Boeing 787 flying from London to Houston was diverted to Newark, N.J., on Thursday because of a low engine oil indicator, the second unscheduled landing for Boeing's newest plane this week. http://www.usatoday.com/story/todayi...

Amazing demonstration! The aircraft is incredible: it goes up and down and can turn in the air! It's almost like they designed the aircraft to do such things! Awesome. Can't post too long as I'm off to Europes biggest paint manufacturers show today, There is going to be a super exciting demonstrati...

and of course how could I forget Pikes Place Market? if you're going on a Saturday or Sunday it's going to be crowded with cruise ship people but during the week it will be more tolerable. either way it's definitely something worth seeing when you come to Seattle. since you have a car you might also...

well the coast is a good four hour drive away so I'm not sure you can walk there. the downtown waterfront can be fun but it's a little bit touristy down there. same goes for Space Needle and Ride the Ducks. although the waterfront does have some great restaurants. kayaking on Lake Union is always go...

During July you will be almost guaranteed to have highs in the lower 20s (C) and sunny weather with low humidity. It's a paradise in the summer months (at least compared to the swamp that they call Ohio). Everett factory tour at Paine Field is pretty good and aviation enthusiasts always seem to enjo...

I am sick and tired of this cliché, For the record we do need to state that you are much more likely to die in a car crash than to get hit by a tornado... I am apparantly more likely to die in a cras crash than in an airplane, cruise ship, train, tornado....................add on as you like. No, I...

Usually he just talks about akkevit and skiing. I'm more of an expert on beer and airplanes. It took you, what, 12 years of reading his stuff before you got that perception?Your knee-jerk reactions just further reinforce my growing perception that you are a parlour talker.

[Per's Picture] AND from Flyboy: Looks very similar to the avionics bay wiring of the E-170/175. CRJ, too. I'm impressed that these things are still big old, heavy-looking boxes-stress BIG- and not the size of an i-phone/i-pad. Looks like 1968, or maybe even 1958! PLUS- I'm thinking that this sort ...

The sense of comfort is not open to discussion, I know what I prefer, others? I don't care. You're really bad at this. Same thing with how one sees communication, to me Boeing has been evasive. The way I see it they have not been proactive, but only reluctantly driven forward by one disclosure afte...

[ Why avoid the most comfortable and efficient airliner yet created? Comfort depends on inflight service, seats and room, which is the Arline's choice. I don't really care if I fly an Airbus, Boeing or whatever, It is the Airline that matters. On that basis I will always avoid US companies at any c...

Re: UAL 787 HOU to ORD in about 35 Minutes!
Who keeps making up that statement? jeezThe batteries, which have now been modified to prevent them from getting too hot, are a major factor in the plane’s energy effieciency [SIC]. Boeing says the 787s are about 20 more fuel efficient [SIC] than airplanes of comparable size.[/size]
