Re: Qantas A380 emergency landing in SIN
It will be a full wing replacement I posted that earlier in the thread, now get the wing from France to Singapore and all the equipment to remove the wing and re-install the new wing, nigh on impossible. Unless, again, it's possible (i.e. technicaly and economically feasible) to make a temporary re...

The last Airbus to leave the factory will be in a waste bin . Ever hear of the Mercure ? A good airplane other than it had no range. Made a nice model, though. I built one way back in the old country. Funny thing, it's a better looking airplane than the A300 . Did you know they almost got Douglas a...

Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone including the French and Canadians.
I for my part shall be attempting to shape rice to look like a Turkey. For some reason I don't think Asians eat much turkey. I have also observed they do not eat much cheese.

How are the French always involved?Sounds like the P100 panel fire was caused by a tool that was left in the rack by supplier "French Zodiac".

Really? I think the engine will be the hardest repair.I think the repair of the upper panel will be more challenging than the repair of the spar.

Re: Qantas A380 emergency landing in SIN
Well I do think this would involve a full wing replacement , not a spar replacement . I think it will be a spar repair as only a part of the web plate is damaged. It will add a few pounds to the empty weight and require regular checking. It is true the Spar caps carry nearly the entire loading, but...

Just to illustrate how difficult it would be to repair(read replace in its entirety) the front spar on the A380. ---> big picture in link , therefore it's better to visit the site iso direct-linking the picture. http://www.gknaerospace.com/office/content/S634145497490475752/A380-wing-spar-manufactu...

Re: 787 troubles, the latest news..
Another problem was the dual engines buried in the wing. A catastrophic engine failure put the other engine, wing spar and fuel tank in jeopardy. Aerodynamically it is a brilliant idea, but practically it is a failure.

Define 'better'.
Funny thing about the Comet, I read British aviation magazines and they still wax on about it and give little mention to it's problems.

Baby steps for Qantas A380 super jumbos' return to Los Angeles flights By Geoff Easdown, Herald Sun QANTAS has left a question mark over when its troubled fleet of A380 super jumbos will be put to the test and resume passenger services across the Pacific to Los Angeles. The Australia to US route ha...

Re: Qantas A380 emergency landing in SIN
Lastly I am shocked at the systems of this airplane. Ther are only two thrust reversers, two hydraulic systems, loss of fuel management with fuel trapped in the tail, loss of control of one engine, ect... It seems to me there were many short cut in the certification process. I hope they are as luck...

Re: Qantas A380 emergency landing in SIN
So- anyway , I doubt this airframe ever operates again based upon the damage to the spar. In my opinion this airplane will be parted out. The components are worth more than the cost to attempt tom repair it. Spar repairs are bad business and rarely seen. When I worked at the airport we had a Swift w...

5- A dipshit mechanic can write whatever he wants into a logbook, sign of maintenance. Ultimately the responsibility for conducting a safe flight falls upon the PIC . A mechanic can't make an airplane fly , all he can do is inspect and work on it . 6- The above statement is a red flag challenge to a...

Well, at just $39/hr., it aint gonna be you, so it's a moot point. Come back when you grow some bigger ones. His own judgment? Judgment of the repair(s)? Both along with a lot of point to point, but mainly a hub/spoke system is the central driver.
There are now both full day and night sorts. Somewhere is a 24 hour ATC video of the US domestic system. There are also European and Asian hub/spoke systems that run like the US system.

Freight hauling is a lot different than the passenger side . When I got hired the 727 utilization was supposedly 2.3 hours per day. There was only a night sort, no weekend flying, short legs and minimal cycles. The number for the MD11 when I first got into it was said to be approx. 20 hours of the ...

Company could. And, there's no such thing as "barely airworthy" it's either Airworthy or Not. Totally 100% incorrect in every way. Ever hear of a Ferry Permit ? These are issued for Non airworthy aircraft to ferried on a one time bases with very specific restrictions . Not only that the P...
