Re: Spanair take-off crash Madrid

To sum up...if you had a bad RAT probe and thus bad info to the Thrust Rating Panel, you would end up with an incorrect EPR value to set for takeoff. On the other hand, if you had a bad PT2 probe, the TRP would give you a good takeoff thrust setting, but the EPR values being displayed would be erro...

My IQ is only high enough to know where I want to hang out, as opposed to where you are allowed to hang out.
Even that's probably an exaggeration.

Re: Crisp rotation and climb out.

If you assume a that your initial takeoff attitude is going to be somewhere around 18-20 degrees nose up with all engines operating, then the rotation period should take around 6-10 seconds (again, using a 2-3 degree/sec rate). If you count off 1 potato, 2 potato, 3....etc. you realize that 6 to 10...

Re: Spanair take-off crash Madrid

Why? 1/4 of compressor or turbine disk aimed in the right direction would make it way through the fuselage and to the other engine without much effort and with minimal damage (compared to "to saw the tail off"). Something similar happened to a Delta MD-88 in Florida a few years back. It d...

i think you forced their arm on that one when you say the leadership saw to it.... I don't think so, Giles. That was all ZeroIntellect's idea. I believe, his exact words were "I'm just having fun with forum settings" or something to that effect. I also believe the terms is "force one...

Re: FAO Off-topic Nazis

Hey, maybe you can help us out by elevating the collective IQ of the Spanair thread. Wait. You can't. Never mind.
It looks like even DummyPilot who is presently a Captain on the aircraft type involved is steering clear.

Re: FAO Off-topic Nazis

Also, we always have to be careful that we don't take our forum too seriously, even though the collective IQ and discussion level pwns some other boards.
That says a lot more about those "other boards" than about your extremely high IQ, 3BS.
