Re: UPS A300 crash Birmingham AL
As I shallowed out the descent, I also started adding thrust, then started turning back inbound. As it turned out, I added a tad too much thrust, because at 500' I was at three white/one red on the VASI, and the Captain called out "Ref+25!" I'm proud to say that without skipping a beat I ...

OMG... I was just doing some searching on "TBM-900 cabin pressure" and found this article by obscure aviation writer Les Abend: http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/06/opinio...ash/index.html It is more than a little suspicious that the entire forum feigns ignorance of the fact that "Les Abend...

Re: A380 troubles, the latest news...
Turns out you can do an intersection take-off in an A380 and be off the ground before the next intersection (MEL 34), and then proceed to 410 it.
Pity the on-board wifi isn't good enough to allow you to post to ad.info whilst you are up there.

There was a mistake in the report. It should have read...
Crew: 3.95
... In all seriousness, I was initially surprised that this situation was allowed to occur, but then how different is it to a pilot getting cramp in their arm at precisely the wrong moment.

Re: 777 Down?
Big oceans, much water, things takes time. Per Not long after MH370 disappeared, a small homebuilt biplane disappeared off the coast of NZ. Today, a trawler hauled in their nets and instead of finding fish or squid (I said squid just for Sickbag), they found they had pulled up the wreckage of this ...

Was reading up on the similar incident a few years Siberian 1812. The scary thing in that instance was that the missile (different type here though) locked in 150km away http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siberia_Airlines_Flight_1812#Shootdown Another scary thing is those missiles have proximity fuses and...

I was going to commend your basic roadmanship for not " relentlessly pull back on the wheel ", but maybe it was simply because the wheel shaker/pusher did not activate :| . You know, the vast majority of folks do not blindly and relentlessly pull pack, just the occasional regional guy and...

It still gets to me that at least some debris hasn't come to the surface. I'm starting to smell a rat. :? This + J's post right above = Yes. Conversely- on a windmill, you want to suck as much energy out of the air as you possibly can and if you don't catch every last piece of air- you have wasted it. ... consider what would happen if you sucked every last bit of energy out the air, how fast would the air be moving in front of the blade...

I trust you enjoyed Business Class minimum? Which airline? Per QF and One World is where my loyalties lie. The boss has an economy only edict, probably based on the fact he used to be a fast jet pilot, and so economy is luxury in comparison to confines of a military fast jet cockpit. We bend the ru...
