Re: THERE HAS BEEN A NEAR TOTAL SHIP-BRIDGE DISASTER!!!!!!

We, somewhat routinely run barges into bridges in flyover, and as J alluded to, it's often due to a power failure or a breakaway. I suppose our saving grace is that the barges are smaller. Maybe we need new procedures, regulations and oversight for more tugboat presence/assistance. I ASSUME the J's...

THERE HAS BEEN A NEAR TOTAL SHIP-BRIDGE DISASTER!!!!!!

Baltimore, MD 3/26/2024.

Per, you are on the spot as we will be doing outside analysis and liberal recommendations.

Gabriel, are you satisfied with the braking abilities of cargo ships?

I’m blaming a lack of redundancy in control systems.

No.

The only acceptable Cessna livery is red on white.

Re: What a story

Apologies, it’s 45 min…Gabrilian as we say.

A guy saw a crash and it was ugly, and he decided to be a pilot.

Unique, but what is the key message here?

Someone brought up that crazy drill-in in China.

Officially unsolved, but kinda looks like a pilot suicide to us, I think.

Re: This is kind of a double post

About a week ago, we had some lively thunderstorms with huge hail and tornado warnings. I continue to be amazed at the diversity of aeroplanie routes- some flights thread needles, some flights go hundreds of miles out of the way, some flights punch through cells.

Re: 737 Max troubles;:The latest news...

Wrong! Duct tape and baling wire! Plus, for the doors/plugs, I’m thinking a good tie down ratchet strap or two are in order. Maybe a sheet of good 4 by 4 wire concrete reinforcement mesh? I guess the screwdriver might be useful to un-jam the go-forward switch on a pilot seat. And WTH?, you can’t fix...

Two words: Cheap composites in and around the switch and cover.

And it almost is MCAS…the motor keeps running…

I’m sure Evan has some recommendations.

Re: 787 troubles, the latest news..

It does not_reconcile with:

1. The rumor of the instrument screens going blank (not_that windows computers don’t_do that from time to time.

2. Nor would I think you’d put passengers on the ceiling.

3. Gabriel ignored my Airplane! prompt.

4. Yes, ban fish and lots of other things.

Guarded switches

SUPPOSEDLY:

Hostie brings pilots “the fish.”

They bump a guarded switch on the back of the pilot seat.

The pilot seat begins moving forward.

Shoves the pilot into the control column.

Dive ensues.

Commentary:

It’s a completely different kind of MCAS, altogether.

Who cares about DC-9s and 757s and 737-MXs?

What we really need is an airplane to haul windmill blades, and by golly aeroengineers are working on it!

Because it’s good for the climate to burn jet fuel to fly blades, one at a time, and they still have to be trucked to and from the runway.

Re: MCAS…

Evanie cites a need to reboot the computer occasionally. I guess Boeing didn't expect their aeroplanies to last 22 days , let alone 240. In all fairness, neither did I . Did you make a typo? 18 months is 540 days: our generally-agreed longevity estimate. Evanie’s no fly list? They handled this bett...
