Today’s Learning

If you are focusing on trying to execute a fairly high performance go-around with a climb and wanting to avoid the ground, you can tunnel vision and push over.

Makes sense to me.

Re: Evan Mentality

(how is this off-topic?)
It’s been a few days, but I think I hit the POST button and then said, “Oh shit, I’m in the off topic forum” (100% serious)

[not italics]We know the rest of the story regarding delete and edit features.

Sorry ;)

Re: Not_Delta 191

Quote = Gabriel Blah blah blah + Graph Thank you for the graphs and comments- same to Ocelot. Yes, I see a tiny, brief pitch down input …towards the end of a period of reducing airspeed and pitch. I agree, the actual, sustained nose-over seems largely uncommanded. I see that the pitch down input co...

Re: Caravan Crash Credentials Connundrum

I’m still not 100% sure what Gabriel was saying, but I think it’s (paraphrased): Even though you guys don’t see an obvious stall/sudden wing drop, it’s still POSSIBLE that the plane had degraded roll control due to slow speed and/or the beginnings of a stall. Just not sure how the totally, intention...

Situational Awareness

No questions, but we would appreciate you not pushing over when addressing a negative-AOA stall warning in a downburst at low altitude.

Meanwhile, over [i]there[/b]…

Ironing: 1. This isn’t a busy airport. 2. I don’t think they fly THROUGH the tornado, just next to it…pretty darn close, although the plane banks a bit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5CLNC1kPsQ Additional comments (said before): 3. A great dose of altitude and being in FDnH climb mode are probabl...

Re: Not_Delta 191

I do not believe the captain, based on a somatogravic illusion, ordered the first officer to nose over, and that the first officer blindly complied (or complied, because he also felt the somatogravic illusion). I know it’s total, ass-hat, outsider speculation, but I’m thinking that a nose down input...

Re: Not_Delta 191

Is there a question there somewhere?
Why weren't ALL windshears banned after Ozark 809 and Delta 191?
Expanded.
You can’t ban wind shear, silly, you’ll have to ban flying, instead.

Re: Not_Delta 191

Is there a question there somewhere? Well, this is a discussion forum, so one question is what do we think about this crash? Are the similarities not_remarkable? How did they crash the plane in the post Delta 191 era with all the sim training and even the low tech wind shear alert system? Did the m...

Not_Delta 191

For some reason I do not_remember this crash: https://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/AccidentReports/Reports/AAR9503.pdf However, I find it extremely interesting. 1. It is very similar to Delta 191, and I’m always interested in my hometown Ozark 809 FH-227 crash. 2. BUT , this occurred after we suppose...

These are most entertaining, and I know you work very hard to get them correct.

I do miss the bubble and the Holy FCOM.

News clipping…

I thought that popcorn shortage thing was a a real article and only read the headline.

Upon further review, it is beautiful.

Please follow type-specific popping instructions- whether pop by wire or stove top.

No, I still strongly support type-specific healthy airspeeds and attitudes as much as understanding stalls, stall warnings and the concept of proper, measu...

Re: Caravan Crash Credentials Connundrum

Three people have said “they don’t think it’s a stall/spin”. ZERO PEOPLE have said, IT ABSOLUTELY IS NOT A STALL/spin. . Then you say YOU THINK a stall spin is LESS likely. So, I’m just not getting the ongoing lectures and counter arguments and corrections. As to the question of what any of us knows...

Re: Caravan Crash Credentials Connundrum

I think it is perfectly possible that it is stall related. Not necessarily "most likely". But what we see in the video and report doesn't make me think that it could not be stall related. And I’m really obsessed with stalls, near stalls, and subtitles that occur near stalls and have to po...

Re: Caravan Crash Credentials Connundrum

Ocelot said: "I'd tend to assume either something broke or it's another instance of inadequate roll authority at low speed. Doesn't seem entirely consistent with stalling one wing." Do you want to discuss this crash or stalling one wing? If it’s THIS crash: If a plane goes in in a 70 degr...

Re: (More) IA image creation shenanigans

I read where Google had throttled its image creator to some degree. When one requested Nazi soldiers, Google, wanting to be a diverse and inclusive force, would supposedly spit out soldiers of a range of skin colors and features. I can’t say if really tall Argentinians or fans of Cajeros Automaticos...

Re: Caravan Crash Credentials Connundrum

Nuances: You choose to gloss over my inclusion of the word basically. It’s a gray concept that you and Evan struggle with, but kind of key nuance to this concept. Ocelot did say wing drop. Acknowledged, she (as long as we’re claiming nuances), did not_say spin. But again Evan, you stall a plane, and...

So this wing is not stalled? Lay off the absolute terms Evan. 172 Full power Keep pulling the nose up The nose-up attitude becomes pretty remarkable and terrifying for FOFFIES in 2A and 2F. A nasty warning “horn” begins squeeling. The horn pitch becomes higher as the squirrel senses death, there’s ...
