It does, and VERY explicitly.
On the CRJ I can normally hear it from where I'm sitting, so I imagine that from where you're sitting it is hard to miss.
Heard it lately in an A319. OK, I was sitting in row #1, but nevertheless.

It looked to me as if the front wheels were kind of partly retracted after the mishap, like a heavily overloaded car. Would that be from the sheer weight of the car or some security feature?
