Following the discussion here and on pprune, there's one thing I haven't seen mentioned and that is routine draining of airplane fuel tanks for water. How often does that take place? Per Not sure how often it is required, but this particular aircraft was checked on 14 and 15 January. That was state...

I've read the report in both Dutch and English, what it actually says is that the standard procedure is to line up at the 8nm mark. They are however, allowed to line a/c up as little as 5nm. TK1951 lined up at the 6nm mark. Btw according to the OVV their last press release on the matter was 28 Apr 0...

I agree with you on this one Sabre. No computer could have taken in the situation and acted promptly and correctly the way that Sully did. With or without FBW that was an amazing pice of airmanship.
