Re: Lego

And Ben is lucky, too!
Spoiled he is and a softy I am.

On my next holidays we will go again to Legoland Germany. Ben will enjoy it much more this time, because last time, he still was to young to understand the Lego 'thing'.

Re: Lego

My source of Lego is Ben. Benslego.jpg I get that Lego thumb too. After heavy constructing, my thumb starts hurting too. What makes me angry is that when I finished a project, Ben 'plays' with it. He likes to disassemble it again and reassemble it his way. The after some time he asks me to reconstru...

Re: funny pictures

No shit!??? Don't scare me, I drive a lot on German highways on my way to Czech Republic. There are a lot of these Toll bridges. And normally I drive 10 km/h faster than allowed by the roadsigns. So this means I need to make more Pee-Stops. We've had the system ("Trajectcontrole", Section...

Re: Air France jet missing

The graph ZA showed, wasn't it the one from Al, who came up with the Swiss cheese theory.
Almost, but it wasn't Al or it would be called the Weaver Model.
Ah, I thought he called it that way because he likes Swiss cheese.

Re: Air France jet missing

Can someone explain why after nearly two decades of service, 330/340 pitot tubes are suddenly a problem? Are the ones found in the present (pre April 27th) AF fleet different than those originally installed in the 1990s, or has this been an accident waiting to happen for 18 years? Obviously the dra...

Re: Air France jet missing

It's funny that some experts are quickly pissed because some others have different views. The graph ZA showed, wasn't it the one from Al, who came up with the Swiss cheese theory. I have to agree with ZA because it's never only one problem which leads to a catastrophic event. Like Schorsch said that...

We get to be extremely clever when we reach 75, don't we Gerry ;-)
Old and wise!

But seriously, I think that I see some things from a different side than 10 or 20 years ago. Perhaps another reason is because of Ben and Katie.

Re: funny pictures

Nowadays they're starting (here in Germany) using the technology introduced with the automatic toll system: You pass underneath a first bridge equipped with cameras. Some piece of fairly sophisticated software recognizes your license plate and gives it a time stamp. A few miles down the road, you p...

Re: funny pictures

One thing I have found after starting to use GPS and cruise control is that keeping to the speed limit has several advantages: 1. I don't risk a speeding ticket. 2. I save on fuel, especially keeping a constant speed helps tremendously , instead of rushing up to try and overtake the next car, slowi...

Re: Air France jet missing

I find all these speculation with blocked pitot tubes and other things very irritating, no aircraft ever crashed due to it. When flying in tough turbulence they would have disengaged the autopilot anyways. Perhaps AF447 was not so lucky... another Pprune quote (if I may) but it seems people are not...

Re: Air France jet missing

Higher temperature means higher density altitude, which may put an airliner above its maximum altitude within a few minutes (in straight and level flight, without changing the plane's actual distance from the surface). If the plane was operating in 'coffin corner', the autopilot will not be able to...

Re: In memoriam Don Moore - condolence book

I am sitting here on my computer, searching for words... I surfed AD.info the whole evening and didn't see these threads. I only noticed the black ribbon on our logo and wanted to ask in the Off Topic section what it would mean, if it would be for mourning the Air France losses... Then a 1000000 Vol...

Re: funny pictures

it's a big moneymaking machine in Germany. Well, if people obeyed the speed limits, no money would be made from the machine. 10 speed cameras have been put up in Denmark, some claim it is a "scam" just aimed at making money, but so far it seems that the speed has been reduced where the ca...

Re: FAO: *INH*

so there are a few AD husband-and-wife teams, and of course there's Amy and Tony's big AD romance (still together i believe). have there been any others? ITS? or was that AD independent? I am not 100% sure, but from what I know, David H. wife posted in the AD.com too. If they met on that forum I do...
