Re: CF-18 Hornet Crashes during Airshow practice, dramatic pics

Talking to some of the Forces guys, During the Alpha pass, the airplane is essentially stalled, relying on the aircrafts thrust to maintain altitude, following this maneauver the aircraft normally powers straight out of the Alpha pass straight up to 10,000'+ If one engine fails apparently even given...

Great move Ambrose. From 1st to 7th under yellow with 7 laps to go.
Only got to see the highlights... but a rather uncharacteristic move on his behalf.

... did you notice what equipment flyboy was operating that day?
In the ATC world we call it a "Grand-Piano with wings" because it's performance is about on par with said object.

How dud any self respecting pilots union allow Airbus aircraft into their fleets Because it fixes most pilot errors? Ok, but it makes more on it's own? To me all of the Airbus automation, is no different than the CAPS system... it's a good selling feature, but no replacement for actual pilot traini...

I check the FedEx MD-11 in the background? I wasn't in the market for an L Series lens or anything, so I did some research for good buy for little money. Bought a Canon 55-250MM IS Lens. I fully intend to get some night stuff going too, and I do have a tri-pod, just got the lens, I'm at work right n...

CALGARY — The pilot of an Airbus forced in 2008 to make an emergency landing in Calgary after hitting severe turbulence should have been offered more extensive training to manage the rare, inflight incident. That conclusion is found in an 18-page Transportation Safety Board report into Air Canada F...

Re: UAL901

Ok....it is conspicuosly absent that MAYBE the "normal procedure" of going around at 200 ft AGL if you don't see the runway was available as a pretty good safety backup...and on a Cat III approach, I'm thinking there is a serious monitoring requirement that would have caught the problem.....

Re: Afriqiyah A330-200 down in Tripolis

I'd be willing to make an educated guess that 95% of large airplane crashes (RJ or bigger) which gets destroyed on impact usually results in some fire.

Re: Afriqiyah A330-200 down in Tripolis

What makes you think the engines were not on the aircraft at impact? Am I missing some information here?

I think we can all think of one Airbus accident, in landing attitude which created one helluva fireball?

Trying to avoid making the standard AD.Com idiotic joke, I would make a WILD GUESS based on the weather that there was a missed approach due to the weather/windshear, cancelled approach clearance, or a plethora of other related issues, sent into pretty sloppy hold, then landed? That or something com...
