Re: Harrowing screams form Learjet pilot

And you'd be already established on final by then or you can be already at Vref and still have significant turns to make? (like base to final) (Sorry, I intended to ask at what point in the circuit pattern rather than what altitude, I realize that I was not clear) I can carry as much as Vref+15 if ...

Re: Airbus Fights Qatar

Among the things in which I am absolutely not an expert is commercial aviation business. But it just occurred to me that Boeing should develop 2 new times concurrently, like they did with the 757 and 767, except that this time it would be the new 737 and 757. The new 737 would return to the roots. ...

Re: Harrowing screams form Learjet pilot

If you have to do a pattern (be it an IFR circling approach or a VFR circuit pattern) that, for any reason (visibility, terrain, traffic) would not allow for a long final, what speed and flap / gear config would you have at each stage? In particular, at what point would you have the plane fully con...

Re: Harrowing screams form Learjet pilot

Couple words about circling in general. In the US, it's a fairly rare maneuver. Perhaps because it's not required very often, most runways with any significant amount of traffic in this country have at least one straight-in approach of SOME kind. Hence, I would imagine most professional pilots, exce...

Re: Gabriel's Go-Around Song

ITS wanted to get us all worked up because we saw an MD-11 go around… He probably texted flyboy to be watching for the appearance of his genius airmanship on ad.info. It’s a miracle they didn’t crash, burn, and did died. He hasn't been on More-Death-Eleven since St Barack of Honolulu ruled this rea...

Re: Gabriel's Go-Around Song

Perhaps the reason why they didn't touch harder the first time is because they had already initiated the go around 1 or 2 seconds before touching down.
No. Watch the first touchdown. Really carefully.

Is not true.

Airplane struck by errant meteor. Valliant, skilled Russian crew steer plane away from school yard and nuclear plant. Pilots to receive glorious posthumous award.
Actually, the Captain already had RF's highest award.

Sorry guys for the long post, but this accident hits close to home in many ways.
That's OK, as is typical with your stuff, I stopped reading after the first line. The closeness of this accident to home is hereby noted.

You are supposed to show a photo of a coke and some pretzel bags, and report any structural cracks or cracking sounds, but I guess we will survive without.
They didn't have any pretzels. And I was chugging Coke Zeros.
