Re: How to empty & board an aircraft.
It could be worse. Recent observations indicate that AA thinks the correct way to load up an aircraft is front rows and aisle seats first.

Terrain. Also there's only an instrument approach in one direction. Plus someone on avh said it's not uncommon to get tailwinds at both ends of the runway.Runway ~3,800 feet (kinda short), AND I don't see what would have prevented them from landing into the wind...

don't worry, we are going to use differential thrust to deal with crosswind landings and avoid digging a blade into the concrete. So... how does differential thrust keep you from drifting sideways? (also with all the boasting in the video about magic flight control stuff, I worry what happens on re...

Maybe, maybe not. Society trains women to care about their appearance, so one thinks about it differently. It can be a sign of identifying with the role and taking it seriously, for example. (Arguably society also trains women to care less, or perhaps men to care more, about symbols and regalia and ...

Re: Aeroflot Superjet at Moscow catches fire after touch down
A few comments: -What caused the bad, bouncy landing (and will Evan determine that the crew used improvisation, and botched clear, easy procedures to land safety)? Still not clear. I think it is quite clear at least in a big part: Not disagreeing; but there's still a variety of things we don't know...

All becomes clear - on the Max gross pilot errors cannot be done in the lav, so they happen in the cockpit instead...None of that matters. It was a gross pilot error, and that's all there is to it.

It's a lot cheaper to tweak an electromechanicalhydrograviticelastopitot thing than add some lines of code, though... While I tend to agree with that in general, introducing LOGIC (of the IF ==> THEN type) into an electormechanicalhydraulicgravityspringpitotptressure analog thing (especially an alr...

Re: 737 Over Run, FLA 5/2019
Watched a little of today's NTSB press conference. Apparently they didn't have the full runway to use, as the navy had a wire across the runway about 1200 feet in to catch carrier based aircraft in case they couldn't return to the carrier. They still had 7800ish feet, so should have been plenty. Wo...

So I have a stupid question... if the purpose of the thing is to adjust the elevator feel for type commonality, why attach it to the trim and not to, say, the elevator feel system? I do't know. I don't know the design of the artificial feel in the 737. I suspect that it is similar in the MAX as it ...

What that chart doesn't show (but this other one does) is that, while the lift at 45 degrees is comparable to the peak pre-stall lift, the drag is some 100 times higher than that a normal flight regimes, and bigger than the lift itself, giving an L/D ratio (i.e. glide ratio) of less than 1:1, not m...
