Re: Overhead bins

Mr Ed, the overhead bins are first come first serve, there isn't enough space there for the two or three pax bags from the seats below them. The area below the seat in front of you is "yours." P.S. Don't blame it on your wife!!! And, don't touch my bag if it's there first! No, the overhead...

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

Canada missed France by a narrow margin, but played the better game. France came out with their usual rugby tactics: offside at every ruck, phony injuries, etc. Also, France have the fruitiest fans on the planet. We can pretty much forget about France for the rest of the RWC and focus on the really...

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

Sepps beat the drunken Russkies, 13-6. First RWC win for them. Time for a big party in Seattle? ... they are saving that for the first 787 cheque to arrive. ABs 83 Japan 7, good to watch but at end of day, means nothing. Quite embarrassing really that NZ did not break 100 and Japan got a converted ...

Similarly, if it takes three people to lift it, it's not a carry-on.
Indeed. And if you can't lift your own bag, deplane immediately you f***ing cow and go to the gym.

Re: Overhead bins

Oh don't get me started. When I get to my seat, I expect that the bin above my seat will have 1/2 to 1/3 of the space free, depending upon the seat configuration, because that is my space. What happens half the time is that some ignorant cow brings an entire suitcase onto the plane, and uses my spac...

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

In an almost supernatural performance, Canada crushed Tonga. My predication for the RWC 2011 is as follows: After Canada's stunning win, NZ, AUS and RSA will join together to form a Super Team. All other countries will drop out from fear, and it will be Canada versus the Super Team. Canada will win ...

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

I was surprised at how well Wales played against RSA. RSA on the other hand did not show the level of talent needed, in my opinion, to win the world cup.

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

No upsets in the first round of matches but most of the underdogs went close or had good spells.
Same old same old.....NZ, Aus SA in the finals.

I was actually amazed at how well Japan played against France for 3/4 of the game....of course, there was only about 1 jap on the entire team......

But he was a nice man (aka feel good story of the day)

Army Snipers Hunt Bomb Planters In Sabari By Bill Ardolino At about 3 a.m. on Aug. 17, four men scrambled from the open door of an armored vehicle, ran to some bushes along the side of an unfinished road, and laid down in the dirt and darkness. The prone figures were still as the drivers idled and t...

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

Argentina outplayed England for most of the game, and still managed to lose. Both teams need to replace kickers. Funny how a lot of the English players seemed decidedly to be from non-England....anyway, it was a good game.

Cannot wait for the powerhouse matchup of France v Japan.

Re: 2011 Rugby World Cup Thread

Which France will turn up?
Or will they loose against Argentina? Twice? Again?
That would be good, but them being beaten by Japan would be better....or even Canada!

Re: Automation in the air dulls pilot skill

I think it is imperative that all pilots have wings (a la Spud), lapels, cool sunglasses and a REALLY cool watch. That's it.

I have wings somewhere, not too many lapels, definitely cool sunglasses and many kick-ass watches. I am ready for an Airbus! Bring it on baby.

Ok, I'll bite FB.... ...what's the "more likely" scenario where you fly in a controlled fashion into terrain that is getting lower as you progress? Well, CFIT of any kind should nowadays be fairly unlikely, but incorrect descent rates and/or premature and/or overly sporting descents have ...

At least they won the Tri-Nations today. The All Blacks back to their usual choker role a few days before the Rugby World Cup starts?

Which reminds me - we have to open a RWC 2011 thread for old Ed....
Indeed - at least I won't get banned by Don prior to this one....
