Re: Fumes kills pilot

Fumes/odor is arguably the most frequent entry in AVH. Even when it seems that airlines are not reporting most of the events (nor they are required to). This is creepy and thought provoking begs the question- how do you know when a smell is a bad smell... No doubt a lot of smells were dismissed by ...

Re: AA Cancelations- MD-80 Wiring

While the theme of this particular thread doesn't exactly relate to the following it does mention ValuJet in passing and is an opportunity to reacquaint ourselves with some absent forumites, with the last post being days short of 10 years ago...

Hmmm. This does not seem to be an epidemic...I think there’s lots of old pilots and FAs...conversely, theres all the bragging about how 787 cabin air is so much nicer...

.....understatement.....
I believe I've heard that we're mildly famous for it.
I also noted the word "maybe" in your original statement and accepted it with the normal dry humour that we are also mildly famous for.

Re: Total Russian-made drone disaster

Oh, the places I could go with that one... This one: "an AT-802 with an engine salvaged from a Brasilia", or the drone? Per Neither. With the "200 hour commercial pilot with or without a medical or recent BFR..." OK, there is a minor logic problem here. A 200 hour commercial pilot would sort of kin...

I think Yahoo feeds me stuff.

Mildly interesting. Sounds like a dude with a PPL got drunk and thought he'd run home to see the wife in a C-130. While he was ONLY qualified for a Cessna- he accomplished the biggie...STARTING the engines...He achieved the optional takeoff, but his mandatory landing may have been less than good. Pl...

Re: Total Russian-made drone disaster

I never understood this. Until energy is almost free, delivery by a VTOL vehicle (drone or otherwise) will be extremely expensive per pound and ft3.... In the agronomical world, we have folks in Japan spraying 1 Ha rice fields with drone-crop-dusters. In the US where fields are more in the 15 to 40...

ROJ: spare rotor blades (total 5!).
At the risk of stating obvious things we all know: one might roughly estimate more than 2X odds of a rotor blade flying off versus 2-bladed helicopters...Glad you surviveded.

I am not going to declare a cowboy monkey improvisation foul (and associated public physical punishment) for continuing.
The report did 8-)
Noted.

What impact does that have on one offering up unfounded opinions without reading the final report?

Re: Proving flat Earth at pattern altitude

Agricultural factoid: If one levels a rice field to 'near-perfect' flat levelness using laser-guided dirt moving equipment, the center of the field may have minor drying issues as it is about 1/2" "lower" (based on a 160 acre field) than the field edges...That 1/2" goes away if you can actually make...

Crazy man builds home rocket and launches himself to pattern altitude to prove that the Earth is flat. He achieves the first but not the second. Re: Self-driving Uber Car Total Disaster

On a more serious note (man, it's hard to get more serious than the previous posts), this type of accident is something that may be impossible to avoid for a human but may be possible to avoid for autonomous cars. Technologies like radar, ultrasound and LIDAR don't depend on lighting conditions. Th...

After much thought, I suggest we tell Evan about this. Cue the Flyboy phrase: THAT is going to be paperwork.

We will have to consult the final report- was the parked chopper not properly positioned?
