You’re welcome…

Good. In another news, the price of popcorn, tofu, and beef is expected to go up. Sodas too. Coca-Cola is already looking for a replacement for HFCS.

Re: F.A.O.: 3WE

You are THE poster child ... Please don't EVER call me that there . I would not_worry. You are indeed an adult, and do not_display Evanie’s childish views on aviation matters. Arguably, [not_italics]we, take childish delight in the debate, there. In the arena de idiomas de lingues, “poster child” m...

Not_Flying Over

Sorry, we get excited when jumbo jets come to our crappy WN secondary hub, instead of flying over it.

Re: An interesting theory

Which matters not one bit since it's not like she flew from pure oxygen into pure water vapor. But carry on. If you wish to follow the thread, I don’t think hitting a warm plume of smokestack gas is going to kill enough lift to stall the plane unless you are really hanging there basically at stall ...

Re: An interesting theory

I’m, I think you mean 2/15 (or 2/13) increase in density altitude. water is lighter than oxygen, WHAAAAAT?!!!! I got a beer on it flyboy. As a gas, by water is among the lighter molecules. First: While I don’t think we put RH or dewpoint into our fancy E-6B computers for density altitude, the air i...

Kludge, duct tape, work-arounds…

I hate to be such a naive, weenie outsider, but wouldn’t it be easier to adapt a 787 wing to a 757 and forget about MCASSING and low-rider hydraulic lift kits?

It can’t be that hard to redesign the 757 lavs to be more tiny.

…and TeeVee asked a most-awesome lawyer question: “Has Evan ever screwed the pooch on anything?” (Or as I like to say, has he ever fallen off his bicycle…something that gives most of us a little perspective on being human). Re: Ethanol Aeroplanies

1. WSJ article on a bacteria that turns CO2 into ethanol. Sorely missing from the article is information on what actually “powers” the bacteria . I have my doubts given that it glosses over that one detail. The Sun? Expletive-laden, ban-worthy, personal flame attack for answering it without answeri...

Re: An interesting theory

I’m, I think you mean 2/15 (or 2/13) increase in density altitude. …and factor in whatever the stack is spewing- water is lighter than oxygen, thus less lift when you shove it down. I still think that’s a bit far fetched…yeah, they said she got a little slow. Additionally, hot gasses form updrafts…y...

Re: Not_Delta 191

… I've forgotten all the details anyway :-( Pretty simple: Delta 191 hit a horrendous wind shear and crashed, even though the pilots commented that they were probably going to lose airspeed suddenly…and hell-better aeroengineers said the plane could have remained airborne. The industry then recogni...

Two updates: 1. WSJ article on a bacteria that turns CO2 into ethanol. Sorely missing from the article is information on what actually “powers” the bacteria . Re: An interesting theory

1. I infer that Dan Juan stole the light bulb? IMHOAHO, he is bat shit certifiably crazy and needs to be banned. 2. I call bullcrap that a sudden density altitude increase caused a loss of altitude. 3. One might cite procedures, that she was more than one dot low, and that maybe 98 feet is adequate ...

Is it sort of a bad idea to slightly nose over in your last 200/100 whatever feet of altitude? (Yes, size matters)

I think the "by the book" answer for airliners is very simple: if you bounce, you go around. Period. Holy [obscure god]. Who is sending out Evan-black-and-white nanoprobes? Have you ever done ANY fence perving? Watched landing YouTubez? Bounces (albethey small) are not_uncommon for airlin...

Pontificating on hard landings...

Part 1: I have a genuine question: ARGUABLY, and from the vantage point of a keyboard, should LH-B'747's guys maybe just "salvaged" the bounce instead of going around? You don't necessarily have great airspeed and engine power right then, so why fight getting those things back when you are...
