Re: 787 inflight structural breakup in 3....2....1....

It seems the batteries still melt down but the alert and containment systems work.

One cell vented. Not exactly a runaway or "meltdown" as you put it.

Re: What, No A340?

Is there any engine commonality or other major parts commonality to other models that might help the airlines recoup some of their dollars wasted on Airbus by scrapping these things? I almost feel bad for the airlines stuck with them.

Re: Norwegian 737 near-stall

They were so close to stall, spin, fall, crash, burn, did died. I blame Per. At a height of 3,250ft during approach to Kittila runway 34 – with its autothrust and autopilot engaged – the aircraft’s began to pitch up in line with a nose-up trim actuation. To counter the resulting loss of a...

Re: Finally Watched "Flight", the movie.

There is no "must of". Only "must have", which is written "must've" as a contraction. Which sounds like "must of". But isn't.

I bet you think your grate.
Thanks Verb

Re: Finally Watched "Flight", the movie.

It was fun watching it with a bunch of other airplane engineer and pilot types. Though I feel we may have ruined the cinematic experience for those around us with all of the snickering and jeering.

Re: 747-8 troubles, the latest news...

Boeing said on Friday it was notching down the production rate of its biggest aircraft, the 747-8, due to slack demand.ales have been slow. Only 107 of the 747-8 model have sold, and 56 have been delivered. So far this year, Boeing has received just five orders for the 747-8. Five older orders were...

Re: Inflight structural break up in eighteen months

35% (in value terms)of the 787 is made in Japan.
Obviously the Japs have a good insight in to Boeing design and manufacturing abilities and this must of influenced their decision.
Yep, by golly you got it. This is the same reason why the Chinese don't buy the iPhones they make for Apple.

Surprised they never found a niche operating around the Southern Ocean. LAN Chile are keeping 3 just for SCL AKL SYD Aerolíneas Argentinas operates 11 A340 (4 -200 and 7 -300) and there are two -300 more on its way. While they do the trans-Antarctica route to SYD, they also do all the long-haul fli...

Re: Gears Up!

The 182RG I fly only has a squat switch on the nose gear. If you mistakenly put the gear handle UP before you leave the ground, the gear will stay down until the nose comes off the ground during your takeoff rotation, then the airplane will promptly sit on its ass. This is one of the reasons why tou...

Re: Gears Up!

A Mayday episode (Crossair Flight 3597) discussed about a pilot who (in the past) retracted the wheels of a plane while the thing was sitting on the ground. My question is, how come avionics allows to "Gears Up" an aircraft with all three "On The Ground" switches fully set (comp...
