Re: Effect of speed and altitude? on stall AoA
I never studied or used a model that considers that a fluid is anything other than a continuum. Ideal gas law? PV=nRT? What does it have to do? It is still taking the gas as a continuum (even if you have the n for the number of moles, which you can easily replace by the mass and molecular weight). ...

I don't know speed, but iced up must be painful.Do we think the anti bug-on-the-windshield system will work at higher air speeds?

Re: Saab? Overrun in the Wild Northwest
5. My comment MIGHT involve a little sarcasm?: What do you think? No! [/sarcasm] 7. My question- why are there so few RJ over runs IN GENERAL: Still totally valid. Because they land in the same runways that are good for 737s, A320s and MD-80s (and many times even bigger planes), which gives them ex...

https://www.yahoo.com/gma/high-school-swim-team-members-shaken-safe-plane-071242592--abc-news-topstories.html Ban all turboprops...switch everything to RJ's...(why do we have so few over runs with them?- and some of them don't even have LES and reversers.) Unless this gets ZERO discussion, I do not...

Because your pathetic attempts at being relevant are just that. Well, I seldom open new threads. The few times I do, it is because I consider the matter to be particularly interesting. So I will keep opening them in both sites so I can share them with both groups of people. Do you have any problem ...

Hey, Gabie, don't forget to post this on like 9 more fora at least. Why do you always bring this up? What is the problem if I post the same aviation news, that I consider interesting and that it may interest others, in the 2 aviation forums where I participate and that share only few members? Becau...

Airlines must have zero tolerance for intentional stupidity. That's the culture. Ok, Evan. Forgive my interest in "breaking things down for analysis" Gross violation of well-intended procedures and an inferred recklessness? Yes. Elaw's challenge that I can't say there's ZERO distraction f...

Re: 2 former pilots...
The pilots should be fired NOT for simultaneous filming, BUT for deciding to SHARE the video. THAT is an exabit of dangerous decision making. Beautiful clear night, ILS probably tuned in- autopilot likely on, full situational awareness of air traffic via the radio, DDGAIMs engaged, and too far out ...

Former pilots is what, one would suppose, these 2 pilots will become soon.

Yep, agree, minimum FPS.I agree, but I'd say that number has to be a minimum, not an average. Playing with it averaging 10 FPS but dropping to 1 or 2 when there are a lot of clouds is not fun.

Very similar to that is the belief that "new and different" always equals "better". I work in the IT field where that attitude is pervasive, especially on the programming side of things. There's a new tech out every 15 minutes and if you don't know and use it you're worthless. I...

Re: Effect of speed and altitude? on stall AoA
I can't tell you much about molecules. ALL of aerodynamics and fluid mechanics, including the proverbial Navier Stokes equations assume that the fluid is a continuum, not made up of little pieces. Which of course is not true, but boy how well it works!!! Subsonic, supersonic, hypersonic in the high ...
