While I'm at it!
When we built our cabin 6 years ago we had a four burner gas cooktop installed, nice Whirlpool thing and all. Using it on Yuletide Eve I had an explosion in the lower cabinet that houses the gas pipes and shut-off valve and upon closer inspection I found that the outflow nipple on the shut-off valve was 8mm dia, but the hose 10mm. Hence the leakage and subsequent explosion. I called the contractor and informed him that he had just tried to kill me and my family and that I would kill hom forthright unless he showed up in less than 30 minutes. Considering the distance for the town where he lives I was impressed that he managed.
Since then I've been less than impressed by the capacity of the cooktop, one burner working has been OK'ish, two bad, three burners a disaster and all four? Forget it.
I've been in touch with Whirlpool Norway, nada. The company that installed the gas system, zip. I tried exchanging nozzles to bigger ones, nope. I drilled larger holes in the goddamned nozzles, soot.
I tried an industrial regulator to increase pressure, success.....but gas came trough undesired openings with spectacular results, wifey however was less than impressed.
Two weeks ago I dismantled the shut-off valve in order to install a 10mm outgoing nipple and a 10 mm hose to see if this would increase capacity. I then realised that the valve installed was a 250 bar valve with an orifice so small i couldn't get a match trough it, the filter fitted inside didn' help much either. Last weekend a fitted a new 3/4" inch full- flow shut-off valve, 10 mm nipples and 10mm hose all the way and hey presto I now have a thundering flame on all four burners simultaniously. This Yule will be the best ever cooking wise and if I can lay my hands on the guy who installed this shit it will be the ultimate Yulepresent. May he burn in Hades!

From this day froward you shall no longer be named Ancient mariner, your new name is SURTR ,leader of the Fire-Giants of Musphel , the one that will destroy both the gods, the Frost Giants and pretty much the whole Universe with his flaming sword during the final battle of Ragnarok.

It is not whether your hardware is metric or imperial, but how you put it to use. If your hardware is gay I would not know the solution. That's what you get for playing around with gay metric hardware.

Obviously Per is NOT an American. Otherwise he would have sued the contractor for at least U$S50M.

So when I see those Northern Lights I'm going to have to wonder if its a jet's contrail or Per's former cabin.

We got used to gas while living in Asia and found it very convenient, when it works and it does now. It is also a fashion thing here since it is rather uncommon, or was I should say.Why not use an electric stove?

Re: While I'm at it!
How often do you ever cook using all four, or even three burners at the same time?
Let me know after you've asked your wife.

Since most gas stoves nowadays are gas AND electric, it seems to me you're using something with two separate failure modes rather than one.
Then there is the explosion issue.

Re: While I'm at it!
That's interesting. I knew Americans and Canadians had electric stoves thanks to Youtube. I didn't know that was the case also in Europe (or Norway, at least).Since most gas stoves nowadays are gas AND electric, it seems to me you're using something with two separate failure modes rather than one.
Here, electric stoves are either simple, cheap portable heaters for places with no gas connections (even in this case, the use of stoves with gas cylinders is far more common) , or very expensive and uncommon luxury appliances (oh, we also have those little, crappy, microwave looking small ovens). There's no thing as a "common" electric kitchen stove, and I think I have not seen one that works both with gas and electricity. Cooking and water heating are almost exclusively done with gas appliances. I guess Verbal will be very delighted watching us with Google Earth .
