Back home at last

Postby Sir Gallivant » Fri Dec 24, 2010 10:16 am

Tuesday evening I returned to the snow and cold, which are absent in Southern Greenland. In contrast to most people around here, I actually enjoy it when winter is a real winter. It does of course help when the neighbour clears the sidewalk with his motorized broom and shoveling snow can be kept to a minimum.

Oh, and I seemingly didn't died even if the AirGreenland A330 was 410'ed on the way across the Atlantic, crossed just south of Stavanger and Lillesand at that altitude.

On that note, I wish all of you a very happy Winter Solstice Celebration in whatever (non)religious flavour you desire.

Real winter where I am, Sir. Minus 21 and clear blue sky at present. Pork rib salted and peppered and ready for a fiery death. Akevitt and beer at correct temperature as is the Cognac and Lakka. Let the Yuleblot commence!
A merry Yuletide and a Happy New Year to all!

Snowing lightly here, a couple hours till Christmas.... I love a white Christmas.

Happy Holidays to everyone.
you still have to find a crew willing to fly this "barely airworthy" heap
no such thing as "barely airworthy" it's either Airworthy or Not
100% incorrect Ever hear of Ferry Permit? issued for Non airworthy aircraft

So how was Greenland?
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ~ WOW, what a ride~!!!

So how was Greenland?
A lot warmer than I expected, no snow of any significance until now, but that follows the pattern, when there is a lot of snow and cold weather in Europe, Greenland is usually warm, as was the case last year.

It was good to see the place again, met a bunch of people I know from way back when lived there. But it was a lot harder to be away from the family than I anticipated (which is a good thing, I suppose) so I am really happy to be home (even if the wee one is bitching over minor details in the background because she is really tired and has to go to bed ;-) )
