Oh my...I just read the post. Brill-yunt!

However, should TeeVee, Boeingee Bobbieeee, LSD-744LHB, and that SOB ATLAirbusworshippercrew, have commentage?

Concur!

However several very important things are overlooked:
1. Parachutes are made of cheap composites.
2. Parachutes are not equipped with sophisticated fall-by-wire systems to save the day when the operator pulls relentlessly on something.
3. (In light of recent events...) Parachutes are flammable.

Therefore most likely you are going to died anyway.

What
You mean that Parachutes are not safe? And I just sent three of my grandkids parasailing, together at the same time, in Croatia.
No wonder they screamed.

Three at once? You're not supposed to do that... that's why it's called pairasailing! BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

Interesting fact: my wife and I went to Aruba a couple of months ago and they do a lot of parasailing. A boatload of it, you might say. 8-)

But the interesting thing is it's so windy, they generally don't have the boat moving when they do it! They load the boat up with people, go a few hundred yards off shore, anchor the boat, then let the people out on the 'chute one or two (or three) at a time.

TeeVee would offer to represent the rest of the passengers and their families and sue the coffee maker's supplier, the pilot's estate, Boeing, the Airline, Not_Karl and all of their mums. LH-B744 would trace parallels with Germanwings 9525 and Swissair 111, comment on how many years have passed since the last similar incident in Europe (excluding Germanwings) and how many years of safe service "his nickname" has provided (at JP.net forums, as he obviously wouldn't be in the doomed flight since it is not_a Lufthansa and not_a 747-400); BieBie is implied in ATLCrewie's speech; ATLAirbusFlyAltarBoy did commentaged.

Parachutes at least don't have Li-Ion batteries... I hope :o .

Glad to see your reply. I was wondering if your JetPicture discussion thread was a metaphor for you resigning from this (or that) aviation forum.

We are relieved.

It appears that Delta has experienced a total air disaster.
No fatalities. No injuries. In fact, no crash. But a disaster nonetheless.

Indeed.

Along with 7 actual crashes.

Sounds like Alex-Snot-This! may have a no-fly list.

I'm trying to figure out why someone would email customer service rather than ops safety on this.

Because "ops safety" doesn't grant refunds or compensations?
(Actually I don't blame her for that, I didn't know of "ops safety" before you mentioned it and would have contacted customer service like she did if I felt the need for any... official explanation)

In any case, this incident is a good reminder of the inherent risks of descending.

I do agree with Evan...

"...at least to a certain extent..."

He recently expressed that he might use a known, fat, dumb, and happy power and pitch setting if UAS occurred and the required 4 minutes had passed...

...no worries.
