1. Parachutes are made of cheap composites.
2. Parachutes are not equipped with sophisticated fall-by-wire systems to save the day when the operator pulls relentlessly on something.
3. (In light of recent events...) Parachutes are flammable.

Interesting fact: my wife and I went to Aruba a couple of months ago and they do a lot of parasailing. A boatload of it, you might say.

But the interesting thing is it's so windy, they generally don't have the boat moving when they do it! They load the boat up with people, go a few hundred yards off shore, anchor the boat, then let the people out on the 'chute one or two (or three) at a time.
