So where do I keep my Akevitt?
Depends, for top quality stuff which is best served in room temperature, see pic 2 above, pine cabinet and pic below, teak cabinet. For medium stuff, in kitchen wine fridge which maintains a steady 15C, pic 3 above, then I have a freezer/fridge next to my man cave with third degree Akevitt in the fridge and the really awful liquid, best served to unsuspecting guest and late at night, in the freezer.
What will eventually be my man cave.
Only thing I needed to do here was rip out the carpets and lay a ship deck floor and paint the walls. One window was punctured and needed replacing. All rooms were previously heated with electrical panel convector heaters, which was replaced by two air to air heater pumps/AC units.
Unfortunately I chose Haier, they did not work at all. Eventually they sent a technician from China,
to fix them (ours were not the only ones), one is now working and the other needs resetting every two/three days. Just spoke to the supplier, they'll send the technician back here in May. Woohooo.
Two rooms that I am particularly proud of is the bath rooms.
This be the upper one, it is U-shaped with two entrances and a shower at the bottom of the U. Walls were spruce panels which was sanded down to bare wood except for in the shower itself were I tore down the panels and replaced them with Kebony Radiata. This is an Australian pine, shipped to Norway and treated with some kind of "sugar" solutions under very high pressure which leaves the wood dark, hard and totally resistant to water, wind and weather. It is stupidly expensive, but luckily I have a friend who works there and the factory is just 20 mins away.
I then fitted two glass doors to the shower cubicle so we can enter from each leg of the U, and new fittings.
Upstairs.
In the downstairs bathroom I ripped out all the furniture and fittings and tore down the wall between the toilet and shower and replaced it with a half glass stone wall. Nailed up Kebony, fitted a bath tub, new WC and furniture and sanded and painted the wood panel and the ceiling.
Hell of a job for a small room. Pleased with the result. Just need to make a bench out of the Kebony remains to keep wifey happy.
