I have not.

I understand that pain limiting drugs are helpful.

Not dangerous, normally, but very, very painful.
Like giving birth to 5 kg twins, without nitrous.
Good luck.

I am informed that rumours that they can be dissolved with Akkevit are unfounded.

That may be true, but copious amounts of Akevitt makes the whole ordeal so much more fun.

I am reliably informed that I do not have kidney stones, rather I have a back strain. This is remarkable. Splendid. :!:

Please note my outsider ass hat parlour recommendation (post 2) and how it is still the fundamentally correct solution.

If only the avaiation community would notice my relevant recommendations too!

NO. We already have Dr. Sigmundie von Verbie for professional medical advice.

...Back strain? So do I, after lifting this little baby onto the splitter...
I am sorry, but your logphotos.net picture was rejected as I could not see it.

That is what we are talking about, correct- a log splitter?

Please describe? I can remember a few near-total disasters when the log was much bigger than the wedge...I did resort to cowboy improvisation.

FWIW, last Sunday was a rather bad day- Notched three trees on the wrong side. One grabbed the saw- had to tie a rope to it to pull it back the other way. The other two did not fall. Fortunately, this is in an unpopulated area, and hopefully a modest wind gust has finished the job.

I bet that hurt the back getting it up there :--) however you now have a good dozen logs (a long weekend's burning?)

Impressive...

I think that sort of thing gave me an umbilical hernia once (relatively painless, though)

My back has been a pain in the ass ever since I totalled a Volvo "Jeep" while pissed. I still own the Royal Norwegian Navy NOK 85.000 for that pleasure.
Thanks to pleading guilty I avoided jail time, my passenger was not so lucky. Fool insisted he was innocent and got 6 months.
Nothing wrong with my stubbornness though.

By the way, from out-of bed to in-to-bed we only heat with wood. The heat pumps are set at 20C and will keep the house warm the rest of the time.
That log will be less than a day. So far, 18 metres cube split and ready, a forest remaining.

I could be wrong, but it looks to be pine or some similar resinous wood.
I always thought that was a recipe for a chimney fire due to rapid accumulation of incomplete combustion residues........
Please enlighten me.....

True, but it is only a small amount of pine we use, less than 1%, and only because I helped an (not really )elderly (Thai) lady to chop down some pines in her garden.
When we burn pine it is with full airflow and reheat. Not a problem.
