Airplane - Explained At Last

Postby J » Thu Jan 18, 2018 8:27 pm

According to this video, Airplane might have borrowed from the various Airport movies, but with apologies to Joe Patroni, "Kid, that's the one nice thing about the 707. It can do everything BUT read," most of the film copied Zero Hour from 1957.

Indeed. I thought the membership of AD.info was widely aware of that fact.

I am the proud owner of Zero Hour! and Airplane! is essentially the same story. (With puns from several other movies worked in, including the Airport! series).

Even more interesting is that Zero Hour! actually contains some more information on Ted Stryker's past in the war and details on his failed raid.

AND, The writer of Zero Hour! also wrote the Airport movies.

If you own a copy of Airplane!, you owe it to yourself to get a copy of Zero Hour!

The most amazing line that exists in both movies? "Hey Johnny, how about some coffee." There is one other amazing VISUAL link between the two movies...but to disclose it would be a spoiler.

Seconded!

I have a copy too... it's kind of weird watching a movie that's basically Airplane without all the humor.
