NOAA biologist Mike Vecchione describes this squid as “probably the most bizarre squid I’ve ever seen.” The appearance and behavior of the squid is so strange that it does not even look like a squid at first glance.
“My first reaction was, 'What in the hell was that?',” said Mike Vecchione. “It didn't look like any squid I had seen, until we started getting close and the animal started rotating around.”
