Per, when it's done well, it's jolly enjoyable. I once was a refusenik. Now I embrace it.... rather excessively as it turns out.... http://karaoke.org.uk

What I absolutely hate is listening to someone sing, or play out of tune/pitch. It physically hurts.
If ever, had to be blind drunk, I attempted something as stupid it had to be Lee Marwin's Wan'drin' Star. For obvious reasons.

I'm truly ashamed to admit I joined another in rendering the Back Street Boys' "I want it that way." Of interest, my son once performed all the lyrics from The Champs' "Tequila" in front of an intoxicated group.

Karaoke does not_use an orchestra.

Karaoke is accomplished with a cheap composite crackerbox which uses electronic orchestra-by-wire, instead of fundamentals and traditional instruments and musicianship.

Singers sometimes wonder what's it playing now, and sometimes people wish the singer did died.

You're welcome.

My worst vacation memory is father and son raping everything Sinatra at Dos Palmas resort in Palawan.
Dos Palmas is one tiny little resort on one very little island, no escape.
I was very close to murder.
Same resort where Abu Sayaf kidnapped a bunch of people two weeks after we left, I hope the rapists were included.

Theyr'e a funny lot the Filipinos - half of them sing like angels and they know it, and the other half happily and unwittingly howl like banshees.
