I blame the Americans and capitalism.
The USA had a civil war and killed 62,000 people to achieve its monetary union
Here in Europe Mr Belisconi has had to resign to spend more time at his bunga-bunga parties.
And some Greek guy with a moustache has bankrupted the family business of ruling the country.
So far , not so bad.

The freefall that is occurring in all the countries that adopted the Euro. Oh, and Denmark, too. You are probably too busy counting your money to notice ;)

Greece is a crackhead. The crackhead lives in a shed in the EU's backyard. His appetite for crack is insatiable. The crackhead is getting sick because he has run out of crack. The EU can no longer afford Greece's habit.

The crackhead has already stolen and sold all of the the EU's silverware and stereo. The crackhead has opened up credit cards in the name of the EU and run them up to the max.

The banks that issued the credit cards support the idea of (someone other than themselves) loaning more money to the crackhead so that he can pay back the money he "borrowed". The EU is now asking the rest of the world to loan them some money (via the IMF, ESFS) so that they can provide more crack to the crackhead, to calm him down.

The crackhead has no intention of changing his ways. The EU refuses to kick the crackhead out of the shed because they promised they would take care of the crackhead. China has refused to help unless the crackhead goes into rehab. Germany would prefer if the crackhead was evicted. France is "sympathetic" and wants to give the crackhead just enough crack until he can "get back on his feet".

and Italians
On March 14, 1942, a team of German and Italian lawyers, in the absence of any Greeks, signed an agreement obliging the Bank of Greece to provide Germany with a ‘war loan’ of 476million Reichsmarks. And 70 years later not one penny of it, let alone any interest, has been repaid.
On a side note, to brush up my English I recently once again took up reading English translation of Homers' Odyssey. It's amazing how Greeks have degenerated during the last few thousands years. Mind you, in all his adventures Odysseus never had to face Socialists, so at least he had that going for him.

Isn't it amazing that Greece, where the true Democracy was born was denied the the right to vote on it's own future where on other occasions the EU will have you vote on and on until you come up with the right answer?

They did vote, for the politicians who promised them the moon on a silver plate. No sympathy from me.

I also think that this development makes an Independent Scotland more likely.

About time that they rid themselves from the Brits. What about Northern Ireland and Wales?

They are all Brits.
The individual home nations will fear for their EU benefits/ Job prospects however.
Also there are more panda bears in Scotland then Tory MPs.

The Scottish parliamentary system set up by the last government was specifically designed to prevent the Scottish nationalist party from ever gaining a majority and was supposed to limit the devolved government in power sapping coalitions. Guess what , the Scottish Nationalists gained a parliamentary majority at the last election and have promised a vote on Scottish independence. One of the big selling points to a independent Scotland was how it would model itself on Ireland ,Iceland and Norway. Mmmm I suppose the Norway model might still sell, if there's any North sea oil left....

Let's ask the grumpy Norwegian sailor.....

2014 is it, IIRC when Scotland will vote on independence. Bye bye empire...

It is, isn't it. And guess who hovers above then all. The support amongst Norwegians for membership in the EU has declined form close to 50 to about 10-20%. What a surprise. The Brits, and particularly the Scots are closer to us in mentality than the mainland Europeans and we welcome them into our Union of Non-members.
