Nothing, really, but it will make those who tremble at the thought of their PMs being read by the moderators, really shake at the thought that they are being ready by Vegemate. Plus, like any good social disease, it's not enough that you protect yourself, but you also have to think of all the passwords your partner might have slept with, too.

Good point. However: at those freehost forums you don't have access to the database lying underneath. Even at this forum here were I have access to the database, the password field is encrypted. So, email addy is the only thing a forum admin has access to.

He could log in here under anotrher member's ID and do whatever this member can do - i.e. posting, sending/receiving PM's etc.
That's why I dreamed up a totally new pw for myself, not related to the old one.

But it would require some serious hacking if the bulletin board system they were using is anything close to state-of-the-art. Nowadays no programmer in his right mind stores passwords in a database in clear text - always encrypted.

BTW - I was curious to see if there was a reaction at TAF, but I wasn't able to sign up there. Always got rejected because of wrong letters in the little pic with the funny letters in it. Finally figured it's not really worth any hassle.
