Turbulence, Media, PR, Bean counters, Legal, ***PROCEDURES***

It seems the media is listing more and more turbulence/injury stories.

Before I blame global warming, I think two other possible causes are more flights in the air and more media coverage.

My question is, given the business world's obsession with image and media and legal ramifications and the coverage of turbulence/injuries, have you seen significant changes to procedures or recommendations for turbulence avoidance over the last 5 to 10 years?

It seems like one of those ripe areas for folks who don't know your business to get into your business.

Thanks.

I came across an interesting paper recently, but it's from 20 years ago: http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/full/10 ... 2.0.CO%3B2. (hopefully that's not paywalled)

While there's apparently been more research along these lines since, I don't have the impression that this has made it into operational forecasting yet.
