"Professional" Maintenance Question

Postby IntheShade » Wed Mar 05, 2008 1:16 am

One night in bout of liquid inspired discussion at my Trailerhouse in Brownwood Texas I had a aircraft mechanic tell me he could totally disassemble and aircraft with nothing more than a flathead screwdriver.

Interestingly he did not make the same claim about the reassembly of the above mentioned aircraft.

In my mind this was much more a statement about the quality of American made tools than his mechanic ability. Over here we really don't use tooling "Made in Korea" so since you are a foriegner I was wondering:

What brand of tolls do you use since the good stuff is branded "Made in USA"?

I don't have any particular brand loyalty I use the tools I feel comfortable with so the tools you will find in my kit are made by
Snap on, Proto, Hazet ,Stahwille and Belzer for general tools
Desouter pneumatic drills
Torque wrenches by Britool or Torqueleader
The last tools I purchased that were disappointing were some Craftsman sockets, very poor quality.
Btw you can dismantle an aeroplane with just a hammer. It's quicker than a screwdriver.

Charles, I was a little remiss in listing which tools I use, I also have a number of these in my toolkit.

I suppose you could call that a real mans tool.
You'd be surprised how many young ladies have had this in their hands.
